We offer part # 37185 to convert a 4-pole flat trailer connector to the 7-way RV-style format. This part has a 4-pole plug that matches up to the one currently on your Ford van. Once you plug this adapter in the lighting signals on the 4-pole will be sent to the corresponding pins on the 7-way. I do suggest you use dielectric grease like # LT37534 to protect those contacts from moisture and dirt.
If you want to install the 7-way to allow use of a trailer brake controller like the popular Prodigy P2 # 90885, then instead of the 37185 you will order the # ETBC7 brake controller install kit, which includes the 37185 adapter plus all of the other parts you'll need to complete installation of a 7-way with a trailer brake controller. Please refer to the linked article and video for illustration of the installation of the # ETBC7 kit.
