According to my research, Ford didn't start putting the brake controller connectors on the F53 chassis until the 1999 model year. This was confirmed by my contact at Tekonsha. You can still install a controller, but it'll need to be hardwired into place.
To install the controller, you'll need a functional 4-pole trailer connector, a brake controller and our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. For a controller, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. If you need to install a 4-pole, you can use part # 119178KIT. If your Winnebago has a separate taillight system (using amber lenses on the turn signals), the wiring would be installed according to the instructions, with the yellow wire tapped into the left turn, green into the right, brown into the running lights, white wire grounded to the frame and red into the brake lamp. If your Winnebago has combined taillights with NO amber turn signals, the wiring harness would be installed as above, but with both the Red and White wires grounded.
The ETBC7 kit includes all the hardware needed to complete your installation, but due to the length of a motorhome, you'll need some extra wire, part # 10-2-1. You'll need about 20 feet.
I've linked you to the installation instructions for the ETBC7 kit, an install video showing a brake controller being installed on a motorhome and some FAQ articles you might find helpful.
