What Amp Breaker Should be Used to Install Brake Controller Towing Trailer with 4 Brake Assemblies
Question:
Installing on 2011 Chevy Express 1500 cargo. FYI. The large ring terminals in the kit ETBC7 are too small to fit the DW05416 Battery Extender Stud as shown in the video. 2009 Chevy express van video So I wasnt able to finish the install. Still need to find the right terminals. Also, I will be pulling a 2 axle 4 brake travel trailer. Per the video, I installed the 30A breaker for the p2 controller. No mention in the video of which to use. Now I see the P2 description states the 20A breaker should be used for 2-4 brakes. Should I remove the 30A and install the 20A? Thank You,

Expert Reply:
The diameter of the stud on the Battery Side Bolt Extender # DW05416 that you mentioned is 3/8 of an inch. For a ring terminal designed to fit that you would want the part # DW05705-1.
I would also recommend you go with a 20 amp breaker like part # 9506P if you plan to tow a trailer with up to 4 brake assemblies. Otherwise the warranty of the controller would be voided.
