Curt Brake Controller Flashes a 6.6 on the Display when no Trailer is Connected
Question:
I have a new 2015 chevy silverado crew cab lt with trailer tow package. Also a 2015 travel trailer I purchased this controller with the curt plug and play wiring harness a couple weeks ago installed it last week and picked up the trailer thusday. Everything seemed to work fine and I did the set-up as instucted in the instructions. The next morning on my way to work I noticed the display light up an flash a 6.6 or 6.7 at random times. Help

If what you are seeing on the Curt brake controller # C24VV is L6 then that would indicate that the controller is indicating low voltage on the tow vehicle system. But if it is actually reading 6.6 or 6.7 then that is the power output level and it could be showing that when going over bumps if there is a loose wire somewhere.
Given that the truck and trailer are new it is not likely a corrosion issue in either trailer connector. I recommend running through the set up procedure again to determine if the problem persists or goes away. If it persists then there is likely something wrong inside the controller and it will need to be replaced.
The most reliable controller I recommend is the P2, # 90885, and wiring harness # 3016.
