Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector Installation on 2015 Toyota RAV4

Question:

I have a 2015 Toyota Rav 4. I bought a Hopkins Trailer Brake Control for my trailer and also a 7 point receptacle plug in was hoping to find a prewired plug kit that would work. I found the Hopkins Plug in Simple 11141820 but it is only for a 4 point receptacle. Do you have any suggestions?

In order to install your brake controller in your 2015 Rav 4, you'll need to first install a functional 4-pole connector like the # HM11141820. Once the connector's in place, you can continue the installation using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7.

The Toyota RAV4 isn't set up for a plug and play brake controller installation. The ETBC7 kit contains an adapter to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way trailer connector, along with all the wire, hardware, connectors and circuit breakers you'll need. I'll link you to the installation instructions and an installation video showing a controller being installed on a 2011 RAV4.

Although the vehicle shown in the video is a different model year, the install on your 2015 model would be identical.
