Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2014 Ford F250 with 2-1/2 inch Hitch
Question:
I have a 2014 F250 Super Duty pickup with a factory installed Class V 2 1/2 receiver. I am looking to purchase a 2.5x2.5 ball mount receiver with a 1inch . I will be towing a large boat and was also considering a cushioned receiver. I have heard the Ford factory receiver hitches are a different tolerance and not all receiver s will work. What do you recommend and do you have any packages with receiver, ball and pin.

Originally, because the radius at the inside corners of the Ford OEM hitches were more rounded than usual, getting aftermarket hitch accessories that would fit was a problem. Ballmounts could be altered to fit by sanding off the powder coat at the corners.
In the meanwhile, Reese has altered the design of the ball mount slightly by rounding the shank edges so that it will be compatible with the Ford OEM 2-1/2 inch receivers. I have confirmed this with Reese.
The # RP45323 ballmount should work well, but it has a 5 inch drop. The closest drop ball mount we have to a 1 inch drop would be the Curt ball mount # C45456 which has a 2 inch drop.
For a ball you would want part # 63840, for a pin and clip part # C21510, or for a locking hitch pin part # e98881.
