Isolating the 12 Volt Circuit on a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2004 Chevy Silverado

Question:

Ive got a isolator setup on truck when I bought truck already installed for a PU camper. I want to tie in the 12 volt feed to trailer plug in rear using the built in wiring to 7 pin connector. I read one of your other articles and it states that the trailer 12 volt feed wire is terminated but not connected to fuse panel by default. That article mentioned the end of wire was near hydraboost unit. Is it wrapped inside the harness protector or taped to side? I want to take that wire and connect it to existing add on wire already routed to camper harness behind a isolator so that I wont drain my truck battery when trailer is hooked up and parked. Thanks

The 12 volt wire on some Chevy and GMC trucks MIGHT not be connected under the hood. On others it is connected like it is supposed to be. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to determine which ones are like this and why.

Models that do not have it connected would need to have the 12 volt circuit hardwired. You could still use the isolator like you want but you will need to manually run a length of wire, # 12-1-1, from the front of the truck to the back via a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540. So the flow would go from the battery to the isolator, from the isolator to the circuit breaker, and from the circuit breaker to the back of the 7-Way in the 11 o'clock position.
