Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Honda Odyssey for Towing Pop Up Camper

Question:

Hello, I have a 2006 Honda Odyessy and want to tow a pop-up camper with a GVWR of 2,200 lbs. In reading, it appears Odyessys have a rather low ground clearance as it is. So I was wondering if you have any recommendations given the situation? Thanks,

First you would want to start with a hitch for your 2006 Honda Odyssey. For that the most popular option would be the Draw-Tite part # 75270 which is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch opening. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. The top of the hitch opening will be about 12 inches from the ground when the hitch is installed which is a pretty common amount of ground clearance.

Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118521 which has been custom fit for your vehicle.
