The light socket on your product is it sealed to prevent rust and corrosion ? I had one and the body of the socket got corroded and stoped working

The Dodge Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # CR-007D, housing is made of plastic, but the bulb and socket are metal. The unit is not water proof so moisture can get in. I spoke with my contact at Pilot, the manufacturer, and he and I decided that adding some dielectric grease, # 11755, on the metal connection between the bulb and socket (not on glass part of the bulb) will help to prevent corrosion and extend the life of the unit.
