What Components Are Needed To Convert Sixties Trailer From Air Brakes To Electric
Question:
I bought a old sixties model trailer with air brakes and the axle has air brakes with the really old 6 lug 20inch dual wheels. I would like to convert it to electric brakes and would love some advise please

Sounds like a big project to undertake. I have attached a helpful article that explains all of the components needed to add electric brakes to a trailer you can check out.
Unfortunately, we do not have hubs and drums designed to work with 20 inch wheels, so I would not be able to recommend any of the systems we have to offer. Another consideration is the brake mounting flange. If you do not have a brake mounting flange on your axle, you would need to have a certified welder install them on the axle.
My recommendation is to consider a new axle and to start from scratch for your project. You will need to know the trailer weight capacity and find a local axle company to supply the axle that works for you. Many times the axles come with spindles, brake flanges, and some come with hubs and drums that would work for you.
If you decide to go that route, you can let me know what size axle you get and what you got with it and I can make some recommendations for the balance of the system that will work for you.
