Recommended Hitch for 2014 Honda CRV Carrying a Scooter Carrier
Question:
My daughter wants to hang a mobility schooter and lift on the rear of her 2014 Honda CRV. The weight of the scooter and the lift total 280 lbs. I am concerned not only about the total weight but the torsional forces as it tries to rotate from side to side. What would be the best hitch for this situation?

As long as your daughters 2014 Honda CR-V has the tongue weight rating to carry the weight of the scooter and the lift you could use a hitch like the # 75742 to carry the scooter carrier. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs, you will need to consult the owners manual of the CR-V to determine what Honda recommends as the tongue weight capacity and be sure not to exceed the lower of the two figures.
As long as you center the scooter on the carrier you wouldn't have to worry about the side to side movement since the total weight of the setup is 280 lbs which is less than the capacity for the hitch I recommended.
I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
