What is the Function of 5th Airborne Custom Wedge SWW-04 When Using a Husky/Valley Fifth-Wheel
Question:
What is the purpose of the 5th Airborne custom wedge when using a Husky/Valley 5th wheel hitch and do I really need it?

Expert Reply:
The # SWW-04 custom wedge would be necessary if you plan on using a 5th Airborne sidewinder along with your Husky or Valley fifth-wheel hitch. The wedge prevents the king pin on the sidewinder from rotating in the jaws of the hitch.
The wedge is necessary to prevent rotation at the hitch, because the sidewinder units are designed to move the pivot point for the trailer back, offering better clearance.
If you do need a sidewinder, I would be glad to suggest the correct fit for your trailer if you could provide the manufacturer and model of the trailer pin box.
I have included a link to a video and some information that should give you a better understanding of how the sidewinders function.
