What is the minimum mounting thickness that is needed to get a watertight seal with these?

The Sealed, Glolight Uni-Lite Mini LED Side Marker and Clearance Light # MCL11AKB is designed to fit an 11/16 inch diameter hole. While this light is considered submersible, it is not designed to provide a watertight seal when installed though.
You would have to use a watertight sealant between the grommet and the hole it would get installed into, as well as between the light and the grommet.
Submersible means that the light itself can be submerged underwater and it won't become damaged. It is still recommended that you unplug your trailer wiring before backing your boat trailer into the water of a boat ramp though.
