The # ETBC7 kit includes the # 37185 adapter which will plug into the existing 4-pole, whether it's factory or aftermarket installed. When you plug the adapter in, there will be four loose wires remaining on the adapter that will need to be dealt with.
The black wire carries 12-volts from the vehicle battery to the trailer for any accessories that might need power. The blue wire carries the output voltage from the brake controller to the trailer brakes. Both the black and the blue wire would run to the front of the vehicle using the 2 wire cable included in the kit. The 12-volt feed would connect to the battery terminal via the 40 amp breaker included with the kit, and the wire for the brake controller output would run through the firewall and would connect to the blue wire exiting the rear of the brake controller.
The white wire on the adapter would ground to the vehicle frame. The purple wire is most commonly used if the trailer has reverse lights. If it does, tap the purple wire into the reverse light circuit of the tow vehicle. If the trailer doesn't have reverse lights, you can just bundle the purple wire up out of the way.
If you haven't already chosen a brake controller, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus # TK90160 for trailers with electric brakes or the Prodigy P2, part # 90885 for trailers with electric or electric over hydraulic braking systems.
I've linked you to an install video showing the kit being used to install a brake controller on a Chevy Colorado truck. The procedure for installing the kit on your H3 would be almost identical. I've also linked you to the install instructions for the kit.
