The base plate kits we currently offer will fit all models of the 2014 Chevy Sonic. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate kit # 523173-4 because the brackets are nearly invisible once installed. It's a simple installation as no welding is required.

Note that trimming of your spoiler, air dam, grill or fascia may be required on some models.

Since you are flat towing your 2014 Chevy Sonic, you will need the following items: a tow bar, safety cables, wiring and a supplemental braking system.

The most popular tow bar for your 2014 Chevy Sonic is the Roadmaster Falcon # RM-520. I think you will like the Freedom-Latch because it lets you release your Sonic as needed even if it's a hard angle.

Safety cables like Roadmaster part # RM-643 will be a fine option. The wiring I recommend is the Roadmaster Wiring Kit w/Bulbs # RM-155 because it's fairly easy to install. Since a few fuses will be pulled, a fuse bypass like the Roadmaster # RM76511 will be needed. This will let you prep for towing by flipping a switch.

The majority of states require that any flat towed vehicle be equipped with a supplemental braking system. The Roadmaster Even Brake, part # RM-9400 would be the easiest to install and use. Using this system in your vehicle would also require a Roadmaster stop light switch kit part # RM-751457 and a 12-volt Outlet Kit, # RM-9332.

I included a couple helpful articles and several installation videos for you too.

Enjoy any upcoming road trips!!
