Trailer Hitch, Cargo Carrier and Carrier Lighting Kit for Use on 2007 Acura MDX

Question:

wondering which light kit would be most appropriate for this cargo carrier. in addition - does the cart ion appear to be 1 complete and 2 reasonable well matched, i.e. do you have suggestion for better way to get same functionality? roof top not acceptable Thank you.

The 2-inch Class III trailer hitch that you referenced, Curt # 13354, offers a substantial 500-lb tongue weight capacity which makes it great for use with a compatible Class III cargo carrier like the ProSeries # 63153. I have linked an install video for this hitch on your same exact vehicle.

This hitch-mount carrier also offers a 500-lb capacity but it is suggested that you check your MDX owner's manual to verify what the vehicle's tongue weight rating is, since it could be lower than the hitch rating. When different items in a system carry varying ratings, the lowest-rated among them determines the overall limit. A video for the Pro Series carrier is also linked.

We offer two light kits for this Pro Series carrier, incandescent bulb version # 20174 and LED-type # 98174LED. LEDs consume only a fraction of the power required for standard incandescent bulbs - about 1/10th as much - and they also generate less heat. LED lighting will not require periodic bulb replacement. LEDs will deliver more light and be less likely to overload vehicle wiring so this is the option I suggest.

In order to operate the carrier's lights your MDX will need to have a working 4-pole flat trailer wiring harness installed. If you need one suggest Draw-Tite Custom Fit harness # 118424. This harness simply plugs in behind the driver's side trim panel - no cutting, splicing or soldering.

If you want to lock the carrier to your hitch I suggest # e98880 that we offer.
