Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2009 Acura MDX
Question:
Ive read that certain MDX models would require a transmission cooler for towing after the hitch, and harness are installed. Would this be true for a 2009 MDX? If not, are those definitely the only parts I need? being the hitch, harness and ball mount

I would recommend you get a supplemental transmission cooler for your vehicle if you plan on towing. The factory transmission cooler is often adequate at best for non-towing situations, so a supplemental cooler would greatly help extend the life of your transmission.
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, you will need to measure the area in front of your radiator to determine what size cooler will fit and pick the one with those dimensions. If you can fit it, I would recommend you get a Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503 .
This kit comes with everything you will need to complete the installation. If you don't have a brake controller that would be an excellent idea. We recommend the Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller # 90885 the most because of how easy it is to setup and use.
Check out the FAQ articles and installation video for this transmission cooler and this brake controller that I attached also.
