We have several different tire chain options that would be compatible with your 205/65-16 tire size.

Before making a specific recommendation, I usually look online for a copy of the vehicle owner's manual to check what the vehicle manufacturer says about tire chain usage. In this instance, I was unable to find a copy, so before purchasing or using snow chains I'd urge you to check the manual and to follow any advice or prohibitions VW has regarding using tire chains.

I'm going to guess that if they recommend tire chains, they'll specify that you use Class 'S' chains. A class S chain will extend no further above or to the inside of the tire than 15 mm. Using thicker chains could damage steering, braking or suspension components.

So, contingent on what your owner's manual says, I'm going to recommend a Class S chain. The Thule Standard Snow Chain # TH01571245 you mentioned is an excellent product, but it's not a fit for your tire, nor is it Class S rated. I'd recommend a similar chain like the Thule Self-Tensioning Low Profile Chains, part # TH01221097. The chain is at a similar price point to the one you referenced, but it is Class S compatible, and would be much easier to install. Simply loop the chains around the tire and drive off. the chains will self center and self tension as you drive away. It really couldn't be much easier. These chains are durable, and carry a whopping 5 year warranty.
