Interior Lights of Snowmobile Trailer Arent Working

Question:

Hello, I just purchased a new enclosed snowmobile trailer yesterday and they installed a tk 90160 in my 2004 nissan titan truck. Everything worked good electric brakes, outside trailer lights turn signals etc however when I got home I tried the interior lights and they dont work. I called the dealer and he said I probably need a relay and I dont know what to do. I assumed that the interior lights on a trailer would work when I was plugged into the 7 pin on the truck. Can you help with this problem. Thank you

Interior trailer lights are usually powered either by the 12-v accessory circuit on the 7-way or through the running light circuit.

First, turn on the headlights or running lights on your truck, then try the interior lights. If that doesn't work, the interior lights are powered by the 12-volt circuit. You'll need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the pin in the 1:00 position in your 7-way connector. If it's not supplying power, check the fuse box under the hood for a missing or blown fuse. If the fuse isn't blown, there's probably a wiring problem between the fuse box and the trailer connector. You might find it's easier to just bypass the factory power circuit and run your own. You'll need a length of 10-1-1 wire long enough to span the distance between the trailer connector and the battery. Find the wire directly behind the trailer connector that feeds the pin on the trailer connector in the 1:00 position. Sever the wire about 6 inches rearward of the connector and connect your length of wire. Run the wire under the vehicle to the engine compartment, avoiding anything that is hot like exhaust components or anything moving like steering or suspension parts. Install a 40 amp breaker, part # 9510 inline on the circuit.
