Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Volvo S60 to Use a Platform Bike Carrier
Question:
car: 2014 Volvo S60 bike rack: 1.25inch platform rack Im concerned about the required bumper removal and trimming required for either class of hitch. I live in St. Louis so it would be easy for me to come to you for a meeting. is this possible? Also, I assume the Curt strap would not be required for a platform bike rack. Correct?

It is possible for you to come by and visit us here in Wentzville. If you want us to install the trailer hitch you would want to call customer service and set up an appointment. In many cases we can perform installations for free. When you call they can offer you more details.
In the mean time the hitches for your 2014 Volvo S60 do require some fascia removal and trimming. Removing the fascia just takes some time and the area that needs to be trimmed is not very large. Take a look at the instructions I have linked for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75916 as an example.
The Curt hitches for your S60 do require the stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer load. That includes platform bike racks too. Basically if it is not a trailer then you need to use the strap. Draw-Tite hitches do not have this requirement. That is why I recommend the Class III Hitch # 75916. Also, with a Class III hitch, you will have a 2 inch receiver which will have more accessory options compared to a Class II hitch.
A popular platform style bike rack for owners of 2014 Volvo S60s is the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT # TH92BJ.
It sounds like you already have a bike rack that fits a Class II hitch though. For a Class II hitch the only option is from Curt, # C12066.
