This wiring harness is everything as advertised. Being able to deliver signal without splicing the turn signal and brake wires is awesome. The install process is pretty involved, but the etrailer videos make it pretty straightforward, the toughest part is finding out which colors go to which wires on your vehicle. A $2 test light and a friend operating the turn stalks and brakes solves this problem. The programming portion is also pretty easy, I did it first time no problem. The power wire running to the 12v battery has fairly thick shielding too which is nice if you need to run the wire under the car.

It has never worked correctly. The item that I wanted to purchase was backordered with no release date. So, this wiring harness was not my first choice. The lights stay on even when the car is turned off. Unplugging the trailer is the only way to turn off the lights. We have learned to live with the inconvenience. Very disappointed! Save your money and chose a different item.

There is a intermittent outage and I can't figure it out. The problem occurs at start-up (when vehicle is turned on) and lasts about 5-10 minutes then lights on trailer come on. It happens about 20% of time. If you are traveling at night, this is a real problem. Also, the vehicle displays that a device that is draining the battery and when I disconnect the power to the module the message stops. I like the ZCI but I wonder with the vehicles multiplexing signals for lights could be the culprit.

Troubleshooting Driver Side Door Light Not Working After Tekonsha Wiring Harness Installation
Installation of the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT should in no way impact the lights in the doors of your vehicle. The zero-contact interface sensors clamp on to signal wiring which is unrelated. I recommend double checking the wires the sensors are connected to, and make sure they are facing the right direction. Outside of that, you could check the fuse for the lights and also make sure no other wiring was damaged during the installation. I have attached an installation video on a newer Cadillac that you can use as a reference.

Will Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Kit for Audi Q5 Allow Computer to Know Trailer is Connected
The trailer wiring harnesses we offer for your 2015 Audi Q5 like the ZCI part # 119250KIT will not make the changes to the transmission, engine, and parking sensors. Reason being that your vehicle won't "know" that this kit is installed so the computer won't make the changes. I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2018 Q5 for you to check out as well.

2015 Ford Explorer

Solid enough, seems to only be able to slide through one way. I put it in the other way for a cleaner look but now it doesn't hold as well. I had to put a small bead of silicone to hold it in place.

Honda Pilot

This is a handy little bracket for mounting the 4-Pole Flat connector. The Honda Pilot I am working on didn't have a good flat surface to mount to, so I cut a slot in the bracket and mounted it to the hitch. I think a factory slot would be a good improvement to this item

4-way Options for use With a Tow Ready Mounting Bracket
The Hopkins 4-way # HM48030 that you referenced is a great 4-way, but like you noticed, it is much larger than most 4-ways so it would not fit through the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144 that you have. You basically have two choices at this point. You can either buy a different 4-way that will fit through the hole of the # 18144. Or you could cut off your # HM48030 and then run the wires through the front of the # 18144 and then reconnect the wires to the 4-way wiring of your vehicle. Check out the video I put together for you that shows what I mean by running the wires through the front of the # 18144. For a different 4-way you could get a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118001.

Trailer Wiring Harness and Bracket for 2022 Toyota RAV4 with Curt Hitch
All of the parts would work great on your 2022 Toyota RAV4 with the Curt hitch part # C13416 that you have installed. The Curt harness part # C56434 is confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. You could use the 3/8 inch wire loom # 39035 to keep it protected, use the part # 18144 with the # 18136 to mount it to your hitch tube, and then use the tester # I26 as well to know it works.

Connector bundle easy to install & worked great. Although the instructions say to feed the bed connector from the bottom it seemed easier to feed the bumper connectors from the upper the bed connector hole

Nice and thick, stay in place and keep the pins corrosion free. For general connector lube, this will last me a long time.

Ordered hitch receiver with wiring for bike rack installation on 2019 Ford Explorer. Everything arrived in less than a week. Crawled under the car with my burly son and finished the installation in about an hour. Toughest part was getting the exhaust hangers off. Didn't have a tool for that. Online installation video was a big help. Hitch frame rubs against right side exhaust hanger, hence the four star rating instead of five. Exhaust still appears to be level and no weird noises, so not an issue. Get the little plug in light tester. It's worth it, then keep it in the glove box. Haven't purchased bike rack yet, but no concerns about the hitch.

Troubleshooting Trailer Disconnected Message on Truck Dash
If you are occasionally getting a "Trailer Disconnected" message on the dash of your truck the first place to look is the 7-Way connector on both the truck and trailer. You will want to inspect the connectors for any debris or corrosion that might be built up inside the pins, cleaning out as needed. Anything that would prevent a solid connection between the pins can trigger this alert on your dash. Next I recommend inspecting the brake output wire on the trailer, which is usually blue, from the brake assemblies themselves up to the 7-Way. Check for any exposed or pinched areas that need to be replaced. Also check the wire coming from the 5 o'clock position on the truck side 7-Way as far as you can for any signs of damage. If the wiring is good then a weak ground connection could be the culprit. Make sure the main ground at the tongue and the ground wires for each brake assembly on the trailer are securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface free of rust or paint. Just let me know if the warning light continues to come on and we can keep troubleshooting. I have also attached a wiring article that you might find helpful.

Why are My Trailer Brakes Losing Power?
One thing to do to troubleshoot your issue with the brake wiring is to make sure that you are getting power from the vehicle's 7-way to the braking pin on your trailer's 7-way connector. I went ahead and attached the diagrams of the pin setups on different styles of 7-way connectors. If you need a circuit tester, I recommend part # PTW2993. It is possible that there are some frayed wiring and some corrosion at the pin location as well. When testing this circuit, it is important to use the manual override on the brake controller instead of simply stepping on the brake pedal. As far as the wire that connects to your trailer's brakes from the trailer's 7-way, I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows the wiring setup for the wiring that goes to both sets of brakes. As you can see, the blue braking wire should not affect the brake lights of the trailer in any way. With that being said, if you are having trouble with the driver's side brake lights, that is a separate issue from the brakes. You will need to go through the process of checking for wire fraying and corrosion in the connector as well.

2018 Subaru Forester

Ball mount kit arrived quickly (within a few days) upon placing order online. Parts were shipped loose in box and bottom flap on box was open when received. Fortunately, all the parts were still in box and in good condition. Kit includes ball mount hardware I need to pull trailers with different hitch heights.

2018 Subaru Outback Wagon

I installed the draw tite hitch onto my brand new 2018 Subaru outback. I'm 68 years old, not as strong as I was, but proud to say I did the job all by myself in about 4 hours. Here are some tips you may find useful. Watch the video-it’s pretty good. I had difficulty getting the exhaust system down and worried about getting it up again from the moment I got it down...read on-help will follow. I bought a stepup drill bit which worked great for drilling the hole in the chasis. I clamped the hitch onto a floor jack, then rolled it and raised it into position. Used metal shears to easily cut out the heat shield as per the video. Your inclination will be the screw the fishing tool provided all the way up the carriage bolt. That won’t work; just screw it on to the tip of the bolt. I couln’t get the exhaust hangars in place even after lubricating them with wd-40. I dropped the rubber hangars into undiluted liquid car wash soap which made them much more slippery than the wd-40. After that the rubber hangars slipped into place pretty easily-that’s my best tip. Finding the electric connection plug for the wiring harness was almost as hard as installing the hitch. I was very happy with how the job came out. Good luck.

How to Pick Out the Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for a 2005 Dodge Magnum
When we installed the Curt Hitch part # 13465 on a 2005 Dodge Magnum the top of the hitch opening ended up being 10 inches from the ground. To determine what ball mount you would need to tow your trailer level you will want to take your trailer on level ground, with the trailer sitting as level as possible and measure the distance from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. How many inches that is above or below 10 inches is the amount of rise/drop you need. So if you measure 14 inches then you would need a 4 inch rise. Once you know what rise you need check out the link I attached to the right that has all of the ball mounts we offer. On the left side of the page you will be able to click on the different rise/drops we carry. Select the one closest to yours and all of the appropriate ball mounts will be listed. For a 2 inch ball you would want the part # 63845, and then for a pin and clip you would want part # PC3. I also attached an FAQ article on selecting the correct rise/drop ball mount for you to check out.
