How to Pick Out the Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for a 2005 Dodge Magnum
Question:
If I mount your hitch to my 05 dodge magnum, I will be towing a 350 lb Motorcycle trailer.. My car is low in the back to start with..instead of me getting a bag full of stuff i would just need 1 set-up to work. I will tow a bike maybe an hour each time I pick one up...The trailer has a 2inch ball set up...so I would like the trailer to be as level as possible when towing......some of your parts have s/rises which I may not need so can you suggest one that would fit, dont want to buy stuff I may not ever use.....Thanks

When we installed the Curt Hitch part # 13465 on a 2005 Dodge Magnum the top of the hitch opening ended up being 10 inches from the ground. To determine what ball mount you would need to tow your trailer level you will want to take your trailer on level ground, with the trailer sitting as level as possible and measure the distance from the bottom of the coupler to the ground.
How many inches that is above or below 10 inches is the amount of rise/drop you need. So if you measure 14 inches then you would need a 4 inch rise.
Once you know what rise you need check out the link I attached to the right that has all of the ball mounts we offer. On the left side of the page you will be able to click on the different rise/drops we carry. Select the one closest to yours and all of the appropriate ball mounts will be listed.
For a 2 inch ball you would want the part # 63845, and then for a pin and clip you would want part # PC3.
I also attached an FAQ article on selecting the correct rise/drop ball mount for you to check out.
