Stacked-plate heat exchangers have long been considered the most effective type of oil or transmission cooler, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. As a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube-and-fin, or even plate-and-fin, varieties. Add to that the turbulator technology - whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure - and you have an absolutely superior cooling system.

This cooler is absolutely the most efficient cooler money can buy for the tacoma. It fits the space without changing any wiring. You just relocate the horns to the center post. I pull a 5K travel trailer and this cooler lowered my transmission temp a solid 30 degrees. This is the best money you can spend on your 2005-2015 tacoma if you tow a trailer.

I pull a 5000lb RV with my 2015 Tacoma. This transmission cooler lowered my trans temp a solid 30 degrees. Best money I have spent on my truck.

The oil cooler worked flawlessly. It brought down my transmission temp by at least 55* degrees. The construction of the oil cooler is like no other. Very well put together so glad I went with the stacked plate.

I do have an option for you but the part that you referenced, the Bracket Kit for Derale High Performance Stacked-Plate Coolers part # D50020 is just a bracket kit for a stacked-plate cooler like the Derale 25-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler part # D52506. In order to use the above stacked-plate cooler you will need a few items which I have attached for you below but they will vary based on what size transmission lines your 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe uses. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2004 Chevy Silverado
Stacked plate coolers like the Derale part # D52506 are the most efficient style of fluid cooler. This would be our best recommendation as it will cool the fluid the best. 290 degrees is pretty hot for tranny fluid so installing a cooler would be a great option.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Allegro Open Road 32BA on Workhorse Chassis
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so you can install one on your RV. Generally we recommend going with the largest cooler that will fit in the available space under the hood. Or you could go with a stacked plate cooler that is smaller but more efficient. I actually recommend the stacked plate design because they are so efficient. You can indeed install a cooler like the # D52506 in place of the existing factory cooler, but you might consider installing it inline between the radiator and transmission as outlined in the help article I've provided. This will provide additional cooling which will work great because unless you live in a very cold climate, you really can't over cool a transmission. You'll need one of two fittings. The stacked-plate transmission coolers like the Derale 25-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler with -6 AN Fittings part # D52506 do offer superior cooling power when compared to plate-fin and tube-fin designs. However, they are also much thicker at 2" which means you will need to make sure you have this much depth in addition to the length and height of 13" wide x 9-3/16" tall.
