This CTEK charger comes with two battery cables: one with clamp terminals and one with eyelet terminals. The 16" eyelet-terminal cable can be left attached to the battery, and the clamp-terminal cable is great for temporary connections.
Whenever you want to charge the battery, just plug CTEK's patented Comfort Connect attachment terminal into the receiving end on either of the provided battery cables.
A goof-proof design distinguishes CTEK's new-generation chargers from the competition - you don't have to be a mechanical guru to keep your battery working at top efficiency. CTEK's patented charging system monitors your battery, providing exactly the charge it needs during each unique charging stage. Superior and safe, this 7-step process uses switch-mode, pulse-maintenance technology.

Your personal safety is paramount, and CTEK's spark-free, short-circuit-proof design incorporates a feature that prevents reverse polarity, keeping you safe. You simply cannot make a polarity mistake: The charger will not operate if it is attached incorrectly. In addition, the red alarm light on the charger alerts you if there is a reverse-polarity problem.
CTEK's patented switch-mode, pulse-maintenance charging system is designed with the most up-to-date technology to safely charge your battery. Using carefully monitored, low-grid voltage, CTEK's patented process differs from competitors' chargers by providing the precise final voltage that your battery needs to maintain the optimum charge level. This sophisticated, interactive device will never overcharge or undercharge your battery. You can leave it attached to the battery for months, making it perfect for seasonal vehicle storage.
Overcharging can cause gassing, which can lead to acid concentration and corrosion of the battery's lead plates. It can also cause the battery cells to dry out ("boil dry"), which can allow the battery to overheat and cause a fire.
Undercharging can be just as damaging to your battery as overcharging because chronic undercharging leads to sulfation. Sulfation occurs when the lead and lead dioxide of the battery's plates react with sulfuric battery acid to produce lead sulfate. This in turn is converted back to lead, lead oxide and sulfuric acid. A small, unavoidable amount of sulfation and gassing naturally takes place as a result of the chemical processes occurring in lead-acid batteries. However, extensive undercharging causes extra lead sulfate to accumulate on the lead plates of the battery. Because the crystalline form of the sulfate cannot hold an electrical charge, excessive sulfation greatly diminishes the charging ability of the battery, eventually rendering it unusable.
Desulfation is the reversal of sulfation damage. The CTEK charger's unique process not only prevents the undercharging that produces excess sulfation, but it also includes a desulfating step that can often "revive" a lightly sulfated battery. It accomplishes this with carefully monitored electronic pulses of energy that help to break down the lead sulfate crystals, allowing the battery to accept a charge once again.
Ripple-wave percentage is the quantity of disturbances exhibited in current and voltage. Even minor variations in household current can cause undercharging or overcharging, but CTEK's low-ripple design regulates the incoming current before passing it on to your battery, ensuring a consistent charge. This process can cause the charger to be a little slower than linear chargers but results in a healthier, more productive, longer-lasting battery.
The charger is also safe for your vehicle. Its sophisticated circuitry is designed to be compatible with today's sensitive electronics and audio equipment. You can confidently charge your battery while it is still in the vehicle: no more hefting heavy batteries! CTEK's low ripple rate eliminates the danger of damaging electronic devices connected to the battery.

Today we're going to be looking at the CTEK MURS 7.0 Battery Charger with Pulse Maintenance for 12V Automotive and 16V Racing Applications, part number CTEK56830. Our 12V and 16V CTEK charger has four main functions, two for 12V and two for 16V as indicated here. With our charger, we'll have two different sets of leads. We'll have set of leads for battery clamps where we connect to the battery terminals or post. Another set of leads which is fixed that will go right to the terminals of your battery. To connect to the charger, it's a simple 2-plug connection that locks in place.
To disconnect, we'll simply press on the connector lock and remove it. Also supplied with our install kit will be a nice handy bag. Now, just to show you what it looks like going through our modes, we'll go ahead and plug it in. We're currently getting an error message because we're not connected. We'd press on the mode button and we're at 12V Wet, 12V AGM. We're going to switch over to 16V Wet and 16V AGM.
Now with our hood already open, let's go ahead and show you how quick and easy it is to use. We'll simply locate the battery positive and negative terminals, open the battery cap, and we're going to use the clamps provided, connecting to our ground or negative terminal, and power or positive terminal. Then taking the 2-prong connector and plugging into the battery connector. Then we'll go ahead and plug our charger in. I'll switch it to the mode that we need, 12V Wet.
You can see where it's starting to charge. Now, as it charges it's also going to go through and check the battery level. It will indicate here once it's fully charged. One of our built-in features here is the in-line fuse holder. We're going to remove the cap. You can see that's a 15 amp fuse, so if our connections become disconnected and grounded or cross-connected, it will blow the fuse and not hurt the charger.
Now that our battery is fully charged, we can go ahead and disconnect our charger. I'll unplug it, remove the 2-prong connector, and then our clamps. For applications that sit a lot, to make it more convenient, you can connect a permanent 2-prong cable. We'll connect directly to the negative and positive battery cables and be permanently fixed to the battery where you can connect to your 2-prong for your charger. For another charging option, the CTEK Comfort Connect Cigarette Plug Charger Cable is available, part number CTEK56263, allowing you to use your charger from the comfort of your car. There you have it in just a few simple steps, we got our battery charged up and we're ready to hit the road. That does it for our CTEK MURS 7.0 Battery Charger with Pulse Maintenance, part number CTEK56830. .
