Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most lids, covers, or hatches have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your tool box lid, bed cover, or boat hatch stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.
How to Find the Right Gas Strut for Your Application
Determining which gas strut is right for your application is easy. All you need to do is remove your worn-out strut and locate the force printed on the side of the tube:
Then, pull the rod out so it's fully extended and take the following measurements:

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a quick look at this universal lift support. Now, this is going to replace one worn or damaged ball and socket gas strut for your truck cover, boat hatch, toolbox and more. The dampening technology provides smooth operation that eliminates bouncing or jumping. This is going to ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions.
The arm extends to hold your lid or your hatch open and then gently compresses while closing. And these 10 millimeter nylon ball and socket connectors that we have already been looking at together, they're gonna install directly to your existing original equipment manufacturer fittings. This nitride-coated steel shaft is corrosion resistant for long-lasting performance. You are gonna get one lift support. And let me go ahead and line this up, and get my tape measure here to give you the measurement of that extended length.
I'm gonna be measuring center of socket to center of socket. And we are sitting right at 18 1/2 inches on that extended length. The compressed length is gonna be 10 11/16 inches. And the stroke is gonna be 7 3/4 inches. The compression in force pounds is gonna be 30 to 40 pounds.
This does have a limited lifetime warranty. Well, that's going to conclude our look today. I do hope it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

These have been replaced with factory units.
just took longer then expected .
So far so good. We will see if they last another winter here in Colorado. The struts we have had in the past seem to fail in the winter time.
They worked perfect. Glad I made the purchase at etrailer
