Directions were wrong on which bolt to remove and replace with new bolt. The metal spacer blocks were about 1/8 in to big, I had to use some washers. The metal blocks that the carriage bolts fit into that go inside the frame were too long, I had to cut them down about 1/4 in on both. The ends of the hitch are really bulky and show from side of truck. I actually had to cut my exhaust tip off to get the hitch into place. Wish I would have went with a different brand.

I recommend watching the video installation that we have on a 2004 GMC Canyon. We do not recommend modifying the hardware that comes with the hitch.

This hitch was easy to install. Great product as shown. Video on line showed exactly how to install. It shows to remove the two rear bumper bolts. But to get the two new front bolts installed, I also had to loosen the front bolt for the rear bumper. Other than that, this is my second hitch from etrailer and I would not hesitate to buy again.
Thanks.

I purchased a Curt hitch along with a harness for lights and turn signal for my 2011 Chevy Colorado. Everything was a perfect fit with installation time of 45 minutes or so. I would definitely recommend this product.

by:

The installation was simple and fast. I review the video that was provided, then just followed it. Putting the extra bolt through the frame and using the provided spacer and fish wire made the installation easy. I got some help from a neighbor to hold one end while I bolted up one end and then finished off the other side. The video made this installation very easy and quick. I took me about an hour (that included getting a neighbor to help).

by:

Hitch arrived as stated, and in perfect condition. I installed hitches for U-Haul Hitch World years ago, and know a good product. I always recommend Curt products. (or Draw-tite if Curt not available.

by:

Installation was very difficult, probably because I was installing a new hitch on an 18 year old truck. The only problem I encountered that could be remotely attributed to the hitch was that the supplied shims did not fit and I had to improvise to make up the clearance between the hitch and the frame.

by:

so easy to install

Having worked at UPS for 30 years, I knew what to expect of my hitch delivery. I wasn't disappointed. The only thing that wasn't scratched was the etrailer.com sticker. That got UPS off the hook, scratches were obviously there prior to being put on the Feeder trailer.
I wiped off all the dust (etrailer.com sticker was barely sticking due to dust) and gave it a fresh coat of Rust-oleum. Looking good now.
With all that being said, great website, took longer than expected to ship the 6 items. UPS did an outstanding job with what they were given. A dirty, scratched hitch flopping around in an oversized cardboard box??? Really? Attention to details gets repeat customers.

by:

Solid, outstanding-the only negative was fishing the bolt through the frame. SUGGESTION: try a few times, don’t get frustrated, take breaks and come back if you are unsuccessful at first. Just purchased 4-bike rack too! Outstanding customer service and great videos!!! This is my go to company for anything like this!

2009 GMC Canyon

I had the install from hell because of being a novice and a bolt already on the truck was cross-threaded, didn't know this but it was hell to get out. After learning what taps even are and tapping the bolt hole everying is fine. I was doing the fishwire really wrong so i'd recommend anyone lookup videos of this and then it shouldn't be too hard.

I think the hitch is good though.

by:
2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Quality is there, however on my 2009 truck I had to deviate from the instructions because the carriage bolts would not fit through the access holes so I had to remove the bumper to fish them through. I also had to use two of the original bolts on the bottom as the bumper actually had a welded barrel nut where the carriage bolt should have gone. Overall took about 30 mins because of the faffing. The harness that goes with this took another 5 mins. The hitch looks pretty bullet proof once fitted.

by:

Works well

by:

The hitch fit perfectly and the light kit harness is a 5 minute install. The drawbar is longer than normal which I like alot. A no Brainer, great products.

by:

The hitch is amazing. However, the packaging was shoddy and the hitch was simply placed in a box with no additional protection. The hitch arrived very quickly after placing the order, however, part of the hitch was sticking through the box when it arrived and had several scratches from transit. All of that aside, make sure you watch a few [online] video tutorials, especially when it comes to the fishwire portion of the install. I was able to the get the carriage bolt into the access port without enlarging the hole by placing the bolt backwards into the access slot and tapping it in with a mallet. When the install was completed, it looked very clean and definitely feels sturdy.

by:

Everything went smoothly!

Looks and fits great. Installation was easy enough, that this 61year old man could install it without help.

Instructions & installation on my Chevy Colorado was painless. I have always used Reese hitches in years past & had to pay the extra cost of installation - I did it myself & am very satisfied!

by:
2011 Chevrolet Colorado

the six bolt locations matched the 2011 chevy colorado very well. two of the vertical bolt locations did not need the supplied bolt/lug/nut. at these two locations chevy has a welded in barrel nut, so i reused the OEM bolt when installing the hitch.

by:

Installing this trailer hitch was simple, and pretty easy. The installation video helped immensely!

I highly recommend doing business with etrailer, I ordered this product on a Thursday, received it the following Monday, even on a holiday weekend. like I said shipping was fast, and customer service was top notch, great job!

by:
2012 GMC Canyon

on my 2012 gmc canyon the bolts supplied to drop through the frame would not go through the hole in the frame of the end of the frame they had to be ground off on two sides to go threw otherwise the installation went well

by:

Quick delivery and complete. The installation was simple and easy for one person to do. Would recommend to others looking for an American made product.

by:
2006 Chevrolet Colorado

The product wasnt to bad to install on your own, the holes liked about 5/8 of an inch to lining up so I had to do some pulling but I got it, it looks really good I'd recommend it.

by:

Initial perspective - good Construction. High strength gauge steel. I had some concern with the hardware when I noticed the box was broken in two areas, but, since all of it was securely tape down to the hitch it was all there. Still pending to install it.

  • How are the Bolts Installed on Boxed Frame to Install a Curt Hitch on a 2005 Chevy Colorado
There is a technique used to access hard reach bolt holes called fishwiring. Its basically attaching a carriage bolt and spacer to a wire and then fishing it through an access hole in the frame. I attached a video on this technique that shows you exactly what I am talking about. I also attached a video of a very similar hitch as the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13252 that you referenced on a similar Colorado as yours. The fishwire is included with this hitch also.

  • Recommended Parts to Tow a Trailer with a 2004 Chevy Colorado Z71
I'd be more than happy to help you get everything needed for your husband's 2004 Chevy Colorado Z71 so he can use it for the repair business! The basics that he will need include a hitch receiver, wiring for the trailer lights, and a ball mount setup. Additional wiring and a brake controller can be necessary if he has a bigger trailer, but if he is only picking up appliances 1 at a time then he probably has a smaller trailer and the brake controller isn't needed. For a trailer hitch I...

  • Will the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13252 Fit a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
Yes, the Curt Class III Round Tube Trailer Hitch, # 13252, will fit on your 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. This hitch will simply bolt on to your vehicle frame rails and does not require any drilling, cutting or welding to install. I have attached the installation instructions and an installation video for you to check out. The receiver of this hitch will sit flush with the rear edge of your bumper and allow you to use a skull hitch cover like our Pilot Skull LED Hitch Cover, # RP86523. If...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2005 GMC Canyon
For trailer wiring confirmed as a fit for your 2005 GMC Canyon we have the Tekonsha kit part # 118301 as a confirmed fit. If you need a 7-way you will need more components as well. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake...

Yes, the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier # DTA944-968-924 that you referenced will fit your 2012 Chevy Colorado as long as you have a hitch installed like the Curt # 13252 and can be used in the roof rack configuration or you can use the upright in the lower position so that it can extend the truck bed.

  • Where is this Draw-Tite 75607 made?
The Draw-Tite # 75607 is made in Mexico. If you are looking for a hitch that will fit your 2007 Chevy Colorado that is made in the US, you will want to go with the Curt # 13252. This is rated a little lower than the # 75607, but will still handle up to 4,000 pounds towing and 400 pounds of tongue weight.

  • Why is My Exhaust Interfering with the Installation of the Curt Hitch 1352 on a 2009 Chevy Colorado
It looks like you have aftermarket exhaust on your 2009 Chevy Colorado, the factory exhaust does not come out nearly as far as yours. I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75607 hands down for your 2012 Chevy Colorado. The SportRack Frontier Roof Rack, # SR1005, that you referenced will fit your 2012 Chevrolet Colorado extended cab, but to carry a 10 ft paddle board and a lifeguard backboard, I would recommend adding the Rhino-Rack T-Load load bar, # RTL002, as well.
