Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on both the driver's side and the passenger's side. You will have to remove the interior trim panels to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I tapped into the fuse block behind the cover on the rear driver’s side, as others have suggested. This seems like a far better option than routing a 12V live wire underneath the vehicle - past moving parts and hot exhaust components. I won’t elaborate on details because I wouldn’t consider this a beginner’s-level deviation from the manufacturer specifications. I’m pleased with everything about the product, but I think the manufacturer is missing an opportunity to make this an easier and safer install without costing any extra. The +12V supply to the fuse block is more than sufficient to handle the additional load (even if power seats are involved). Rather than a 20’ roll of wire needed to reach the battery up front in the engine compartment , a 1’ wire would easily reach the rear fuse block. The only additional thing needed to accomplish this is an electrical connector with a wire lead that could pop into one of the many empty fuse sockets. This would also allow the fuse for the circuit to be incorporated into the existing fuse block - eliminating the need for an in-line fuse.

This is my third hitch purchase from Etrailer, and they always have the best price. I do not like driving a pickup so I use a small 4x8 utility trailer behind my cars when I need to haul something big. I prefer a hitch that is as close to hidden as possible, and this one comes close - don't think they could have done much better given the muffler in the way. I also prefer a hitch that bolts only to the frame rails, and this one did just that. Took under an hour for the hitch install and another hour plus for the wiring install. Plenty of room to work under my 2015 focus hatchback for install of this hitch. Everything bolted up as designed, and there were no surprises. I did not cut the heat shield for the hitch install because I didn't want to leave it hanging - I will check the bolts a few times a year to make sure they don't back out. I found installing the carriage bolts first to be easiest, then installing the 4 other bolts. Torqued everything to specs and it looks great. I included several pics to show how much of the hitch shows and how far it sticks out from different angles (my primary concern before purchase). Always great communication from Etrailer and great instructional videos. A+ service and support!
James was super helpful with my selection of this wiring harness for my new 2018 Ford Focus Titanium hatch back. The video on etrailer's site was awesome. The installation to the existing wiring was easy and straight forward. No cutting of factory wires necessary. The hardest part was running the power from the back to the battery in the front - but with a couple of ramps, plenty of access under the car to run and secure the wire underneath and right up to the battery. Pretty happy so far.

Easy Install If you follow directions and have the write tools, Its been about a month since I installed the trailer hitch and about two weeks for the harness and so far all is well.
I am very pleased with the product, ease of installation and instruction video. The delivery was good with no damage. I will be pulling a 4 x 8 [kit trailer]. Thanks for every thing.
The wiring works as it should. Mostly plug and play which is nice. Instructions are a little confusing but videos are available online.

Still works great. Used it for a small John boat trailer and utility trailer.
