This Generation III Classic Personal snowplow is the most recent innovation from SnowBear. This plow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch (sold separately) for easy, convenient mounting. It has a remote-controlled electric winch that will let you raise and lower the plow without leaving the warmth and comfort of your cab. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping.
Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation
This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.
To install the Personal snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.
How to Plow
Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.
To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Personal snowplow.
When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.
Easy Lifting with Electric Winch
The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. The winch uses a durable nylon strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

This took a lot longer than I thought it would (about 3 hrs), mainly for figuring out how to get the right tool into the right place, but it turned out really good and will be great to put a bike rack on the front while towing our trailer in the rear. I was also able to re-install the tow hooks as well as part of the installation. You will definitely have to reach way back up in there to install and get ahold of a hitch pin any time you use it, but it looks really clean and you can't really even tell it is there when the license plate is on (you have to remove license plate any time you want to use it). I highly recommend using a floor jack to prop the hitch up into place so you can maneuver it around the air dam a bit more easily and line it up with the holes. The instructions could have used some better pictures of actually how to get it up into place. I had to get it in by just barely fitting it in front of the air dam and then jacking it up and around it. End product though looks really good.

The product and insulation are straightforward. It took approximately 1 1/2 hours to install. More time was spent cutting the shroud as the instructions gave a measurement which was too small.
California requires front license plates which covers the hitch, license plate needs to be removed to install hitch but does the job what time!

Dodge Ram Pickup
Pretty easy install on a 2022 Ram 1500. You do have to relocate the front tag, but if you have the skill to install the hitch, moving the tag should be no big deal.

It would have been nice if the gentleman who sold me my snow plow would have told me that I needed a drop down hitch instead of a straight hitch, which makes a big difference when trying to plow.

The plow works ok. It's easy enough to get on and off the vehicle. Fatal flaw is the winch strap. I have replaced 3 times in one winter of plowing. If you purchase this product be sure to order extra winch straps!

Took some careful cutting of the air dam (or whatever it's called) but it's proven invaluable. Don't leave home without it, if you want to snake a trailer into someplace you wouldn't ordinarily snake a trailer.

This is not as easy as the instructions make it seem.
There are a many nuts that you need to remove to get the facia out of the way. There are also a number of clips and brackets that need to be removed.
The biggest issue I have is the carriage bolts for the vertical mounts aren’t long enough. They barely get purchase on the bolt.
At the end I of the day it’s installed and I’m only using it for a bike rack. If I was doing anything heavy duty I’d replace the Carrige bolts with longer ones.

It was very easy to install I'm a DIYer so I only have ramps and a mechanics dolly but I was able to get it done. The online instructions were very helpful, they gave me a clue as to what to expect installation wise. I ordered from etrailer in the past and the item arrived quickly. Etrailer shipped product faster than they said, but when got home and package was busted on two ends. Scuff marks on receiver part of hitch and another side. No problem really little paint before I put it on cause using it on the beach. Will never see.

Following the completion of my order I received a shipment notification early the next day. I received the trailer hitch receiver the 2 days after placing my order. The instructions for the 2 bolts that go in from the front could have been better. I saw that if you take out the 2 covers where the tow hooks go through the front, you can get to those 2 front bolts very easily. Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you that.

The hitch is pretty recessed behind the bumper which makes for the best overall appearance but this does sometimes mean the hitch pin may be a little more difficult to use. The hitch is something you'll be looking at everyday so the priority is appearance for most.

- I double checked with Curt and the only versions of the 2019 Ram 1500 the Curt front hitch part # C87FR does NOT fit is the Rebel or Diesel engine models.
So, if you don't have a Rebel this would work. The retractable air dam you mentioned would be behind the fascia this hitch fits through so it would not be an issue.

- 2019 was a split model year for the Ram 1500, where they produced 2 different models. The Ram 1500 Classic is identical to the previous model year, while the 2019 Ram 1500 is an all-new model, the first model year of the 5th generation.
If you have the Ram 1500 Classic, you'll want to use the Draw-Tite # 65062, which will require removal of the tow hooks.
If you have the 2019 Ram 1500 (not the Classic) and it isn't a Rebel or a model with the Diesel engine, the Curt # C87FR will

- The only front hitch currently (May 2022) available for your 2020 Ram 1500 is the Curt # C87FR. This does require you to remove that front fascia air dam under the front bumper but you will need to make a cutout for the hitch receiver to fit through and then you'll reinstall it. This is pretty normal for pickup trucks and front receivers. Half the time you can install it without modifications and then the other half you do have to do light or heavy modifications.

I gave up trying to install the front hitch on my 2020 Ram. ped the truck Off at local shop. Figured with a lift and a couple of guys it would be a slam dunk. Surprised when I picked up the truck the guys said it was a very difficult installation. Took 3 guys to get the hitch in place and install with the provided hardware. I was not present during this part of the install but I know and trust these mechanics and have used them for many years. I installed a similar hitch on my previous truck- a 2004 Tundra. I was able to do that one by myself. My advice to anyone planning to install a front hitch on a Ram 2020 to seriously consider use of a lift and skilled mechanics.
