This Generation III Classic Personal snowplow is the most recent innovation from SnowBear. This plow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch (sold separately) for easy, convenient mounting. It has a remote-controlled electric winch that will let you raise and lower the plow without leaving the warmth and comfort of your cab. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

HITCH MOUNTING

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

To install the Personal snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

How to Plow

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Personal snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

WINCH

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. The winch uses a durable nylon strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

2011 HondaRidgeline

We live just south of Buffalo and Put this on our '11 Honda Ridgeline with a snowsport plow and a week later it snowed, and snowed and snowed... 5 feet in 24 hours and it's still snowing.... It's not good.... It's AWESOME! Not one driveway or even our street is clear... Except ours. It was easy to put together , easy to install and works exactly like it's advertised!
It's November and it paid for itself already. Communication with etrailer was exceptional. We could not be happier with the whole setup.

Hi Robin:I have a 2012 Ridgeline and I was wondering how the plow is working for you. Thanks much.GregTraverse City, MI

Still working very well! The only thing we had to do was re tighten some of the mounting bolts but we did give it quite the workout! The rack it sits on is scraped up from use but that is completely expected and we will just sand and spray in the spring before we put it away. No complaints... Its a well built, sturdy unit. I would buy again in a heartbeat!

What modifications on your Ridgeline did you have to make to install your hitch receiver? Thanks for your help.

2006 HondaRidgeline

Needed a front hitch for a 2006 Ridgeline Honda truck. I found it on etrailer.com and a better price for same hitch on another online store. As I talked with the customer service agent, I was also offered a discount which was quite a surprise. Shipping was very fast. Had it installed on my truck so I could attach a mounting hitch and snow blade. I am extremely happy with this hitch and etrailer.com.

by: James03/04/2023

They asked for a review a year later, AWESOME! I love the front mount on my '13 Ridgeline for a snowsport "floating plow" I bought thru AgriCover. My Ridgeline plows the whole neighborhood now!!!

Better than a snowblower!! Made very well, had it put together and mounted in a couple hours. Used it for two small snowfalls and it worked as expected. Great customer service from etrailer!

by: Thomas08/02/2021

Great service from etrailer, not so good manufacturing by Curt.

The following advise is for a 2007 Honda Ridgeline.
I purchased this hitch in order to push my 21 foot travel trailer into a tight parking area at the side of my house where reversing it in with the tow vehicle is difficult.

Be aware that the mounting holes on this hitch do not quite match, they are slightly off, enough to make mounting a problem that may lead to damaged bolts or even cross threaded bolts. Do yourself a favor and get a 1/4" round file, then file the two elongated holes on the center flange towards the forward edge and away from the hitch receiver to make them longer. Then file the two mounting holes on each of the outer flanges inwards toward the center or hitch receiver tube and elongate them.

Dry fit the hitch making sure the bolts go into the threads easily, they are fine pitch and are easily cross threaded and damaged, make sure they ALL go into the chassis nuts without trouble because in the final assembly you will also be dealing with the splash guard, which will be hampering your final assembly.

Thank you for your detailed review. Because you are installing on a 2007, weld nuts must be cleaned or else it will be difficult to install. Another thing which may have happened, is some flex in the receiver, which would account for it not fitting exactly right. I will attach a help article explaining more:

2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought a Snow bear personal plow and a separate Curt receiver hitch for the front of my 2012 F250.. after speaking with Erica W. several times due to blunders on my part, all was perfect. Quick delivery, price was right, items are super rugged. The stock photos don't do justice. My plow came in at 350 pounds without the receiver hitch. It's not a cheap toy plow. Get one, they'll fit nearly anything! Thanks Erica!!

by: James05/10/2021

I had some difficulty lining up the bolts but suspect that is my issue rather than the product. So far I have only used it once for a camping trip with a rack designed for an ATV (rack is offset for ground clearance) and that worked well. I also plan to use for a small bike rack when 4 bike rack in back is overloaded. Puts more utility in my SUV, always a good thing.

James

5/13/2022

Great, every SUV should have a hitch and having two is just so much better.

by: Danny 10/09/2022

Desided not to install due to the low ground clearance issues.. otherwise the quality and craftsmanship is excellent.. also concerns of front end chassis flexing and steering alignment issues if high loads were imposed on hitch.. may install in the future

by: Bruce G04/07/2020

The good news is the hitch fit and it helps with getting the boat into the garage with a curved driveway. It was extremely hard to get the bolt holes aligned. If the front screws Had an alignment pin and if the bolt hole were larger it would have helped. I ended up stripping one front screw.

Bruce G.

Still using it and it is working well.

by: James10/04/2016

I was a little surprised with the snow plow. I thought it was going to be hydraulic/electric. It does okay, going on flat and slight declines. Inclines not so good. I also. Bought a rear trailer hitch. Very pleased with it.

by: Albert01/23/2013
2005 Honda Pilot

I plan on using this to assist me in backing my travel trailer into a small side yard next to my house and my neighbor's fence. Backing it into this small area has been extremely nerve wracking as my home air conditioner unit is close to the house and trailer. Now I will have the luxury of making sure nothing is damaged. and better yet the front hitch will be hidden under the car and out of the way.

by: Matt 09/06/2022

I needed to have my local mechanic install this - not from any fault of the product but the rusted bolts in my truck got so tight that the nuts internal to the frame members broke free of their welds. It's not really been used much but seems like it will do the job when called on!

by: George11/03/2022

This may be more of a fault of the vehicle than the hitch. There is 4 bolts that need to be removed from the vehicle (Honda Ridgeline) bumper reinforcement bar that have hidden welded nuts that snap loose due to an accumulation of rust.
Upon further inspection of the reinforcement provided for the vehicles front end, I am not sure using this hitch to mount a snowplow won't be compromising to the vehicle's structural integrity in the long run.

The Curt receiver arrived in a few days after ordering and it was an easy install. I would recommend to anyone.

by: Bliss01/04/2018

I LOVE my Curt front-mount trailer hitch. I installed it myself, and while I wouldn’t say it was “easy”, it was reasonable. The instructions were clear and the fit was perfect. I bought the hitch because I have a boat and a travel trailer that I need to maneuver in a fairly small space. I considered an electric trailer mover, but the hitch was much less expensive, and it is with me wherever I go. The front hitch makes it extremely easy to move the boat and the travel trailer with great precision. You have good visibility of the load, and because the hitch is so close to the front (steering) axle, it is very easy and intuitive to make small directional adjustments.

by: Thomas K.11/17/2018
HondaRidgeline

This hitch will probably outlast the truck. Very beefy and well designed, all bolt holes matched up perfectly to the Ridgeline subframe. I purchased it, along with a removable winch mount and quick-release 12V. battery cable connectors, so that I can keep my winch out of the way and locked in the tool box when not in use.

(Unfortunately, the removable winch mount that goes into the receiver, and which I bought from a different manufacturer, is flimsy compared to this unit).

by: JimK12/22/2016

Love Curt, second one I have bought. This one came with a crazy little skinny wire tool with a spring on the end so I could pull a bolt and washer 12" through a steel tube on the car and make it hang down so I could put a nut on it for the hitch. Amazing. Genius! American ingenuity! (And BTW, I love etrailer, too. They have so much stuff, and not just for your trailer but your car, too! And all kinds of helpful videos. I know this sounds like a commercial, but it isn't. I'm real and hard to impress, but these guys are impressive.)

by: Lee06/10/2019

This was the easiest purchase and installation of a hitch I've ever done. I have already told my neighbor about e trailer and I'll keep referring them to anyone looking for a hitch.

by: Stephen 08/29/2021

Receiver hitch fit perfectly. I contacted etrailer a couple times with delivery questions and they always responded right away. Very pleased.

Do you have a question about this Snow Plow?

  • Solution for SnowBear Snow Plow that Wobbles When Raised Up While Traveling
  • I spoke with SnowBear about the issue you described and they said it sounds like you aren't using the safety chain that came with the plow which was designed for removing the play you are describing. There's more info on it on pages 13 and 14 in the manual of the plow. Secondly, vehicles with plows connected should NOT travel on roadways without the safety chain installed, as this may result in serious damage to the roadway, plow and vehicle and may cause serious injury to the operator.

  • Snowbear Plow Receiver Hitch vs Custom Mount
  • The biggest difference I have seen between the two style is in the amount of play they have side to side. While it isn't a ton there is more play in the single connection point than what you will get out of the custom frame bracket types. We carry both types here but given the choice I would go with the custom bracket version. If you plan on moving it from one vehicle to another from time to time then the hitch mount is the way to go for ease of use. There is a great option with custom

  • Can Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 33328 Be Used To Move 30' Travel Trailer With 700lb + Tongue Weight?
  • You are correct that since the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 33328 on your Honda Pilot has a 350lb vertical load rating, you will not be able to use it to maneuver your 30' travel trailer that has 700-800lbs tongue weight. If people are using this hitch to move a trailer this heavy, they are most definitely overloading the hitch by a considerable amount. To maneuver your travel trailer around I recommend using the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive - 2-5/16"

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2010 Honda Ridgeline
  • Installation of the front mount receiver # 33328 is not all that difficult on a 2010 Honda Ridgeline. There is a little bit of fascia trimming required and a couple of the bolts have to be fishwired in but other than that it bolts into place. The trimming is explained in the instructions. 2011 and older models require far less trimming than 2012 and newer models. The fishwire technique is easy enough. I have included some links that should help explain fishwiring for you. Carrying

  • Can Snowbear Snow Plow for Frame Mounts Install on 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • We might have a solution for you but it depends on which model winch you have. The only way to install a Snowbear plow on your 2007 Honda Ridgeline is with a front hitch mount. So you'd have to have a hitch installed like the Curt # 33328. It sounds like your plow was designed for mounting to the 2-point frame brackets that SnowBear also uses. What hopefully will work for you then is the # SB324-120 as this converts that style of plow to a hitch mount style. The plow would need to be one

  • If Fascia Needs To Be Removed For Service Does Hitch Also Have to be Removed on 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • After reading the instructions it does sound like the fascia is removed and trimmed for the CURT 2 Inch Front Hitch, part # 33328 to fit on your 2007 Honda Ridgeline. Then, the hitch and fascia is reinstalled together, so if you have to remove the fascia later it will not come completely off with the hitch installed. I spoke with my contact at CURT and they did verify that the hitch would have to be removed to remove the fascia. I do not know of normal services on the Honda Ridgeline

  • Front Mount Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Honda Pilot
  • For your 2013 Honda Pilot I would recommend the Curt Front Mount Hitch # C31064. This hitch has been confirmed to fit your vehicle and should work very well. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out also. We never recommend modifying a hitch to fit a different vehicle than it was intended for and vice versa, this would void the warranty of both the hitch and the vehicle.
