The SnowBear Proshovel conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for easy, convenient mounting. Smoothly and easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric actuator. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping. Being just 39" away from the bumper, the Proshovel snowplow has a compact yet strong and sturdy design.
Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation
This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.
To install the Proshovel snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.
How to Plow
Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, 11 degrees to the left or to the right, or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.
To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Proshovel.
When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.
Smooth, Controlled Lifting with Electric Actuator
The electric actuator on this plow allows you to lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. To raise the plow, activate the actuator. As the actuator moves along the internal screw, the arm on top of the actuator will pivot, raising the plow blade by pulling the chain that is attached to it. Having fewer moving parts than a typical winch makes this setup less complicated and less likely to break down than other plow lifting and lowering devices. There is also an internal clutch system that prevents damage to the actuator should you try to raise the blade too high or lower it too low.
Add-On Accessories
SnowBear offers a plethora of helpful accessories to make plowing even safer and easier. Along with the available accessories to enhance your snowplowing experience, many parts of the SnowBear Proshovel snowplow are available separately, so you can replace worn-out pieces without having to replace the whole plow.
The off-road halogen light kit (SB324-127) may be necessary if your plow blocks your vehicle's headlights. This kit will light up the way when you're plowing at night or in the early morning. The light kit mounts directly to your plow frame and offers increased visibility when plowing in dark conditions. The 2 bright halogen lights make it easier for you to see where you are going and for others to see you.
With the caster kit (SB324-126), it will be a breeze to move and store the Proshovel snowplow when it's not in use. These wheels mount directly behind the blade and they can be easily folded down for use and up for storage. In addition, these wheels will not weigh the plow down.
The drop extension kit (SB324-128) allows you to use your SnowBear snowplow on your lifted vehicle. With 6" of drop, this bolt-on kit ensures that the plow makes proper contact with the ground. Its sturdy steel construction is just as strong and durable as the plow itself.
If you are worried about causing damage to your lawn or pathway, the poly scraper attachment (SB324-069) is perfect for replacing the harsh, steel scraper on the Proshovel. The polymer construction is strong enough to still help plow efficiently, but gentle enough to not hurt your lawn or pathway.

Overall it's a good light duty plow, works like it's supposed to, clears the snow with no problems. Originally purchased the plow with the hitch receiver mount, But the plow stuck out quite a bit in my opinion plus there was to much wobble. So I converted to the 2 point mount which brought the plow in closer and a lot less wobble.
There was an issue with the actuator, it would work intermittently when lowering the plow but Snow Bear covered it under warranty and sent me a new one.
My only gripe is that only after 3 months of Winter use, the whole plow was showing a lot of surface rust and the paint was peeling.
Haven’t installed it yet but I can not believe how fast I got the hitch, thank y’all so very much, finally can put my surf rod rack on the front of my truck, watched the video yesterday, looks pretty simple for one person to install, thanks again
This thing is well built, it fit perfect, This will come in handy for my needs. Instructions are very clear. If I was to rate the install on a 1 to 10 scale it would be a 5. Fishing the bolts thru the frame with the wire provided was much easier than I expected. I do recommend this hitch.
Overall it is a good setup, does the job it's suppose to. Had one problem with the actuator intermittently working when lowering the plow, but was replaced under warranty.
Originally purchased to use in a front mounted hitch receiver, but switched to the two point hookup which brought the plow in closer to the vehicle and made it a little more stable.
My only problem was after 3 months of winter use, paint was peeling and a lot of surface rust showing.
the install went very good but i do have one suggestion and see if your maker can put a notch in the middle hole to look like the tow hook it would make the install way more user friendly also had a little problem with one of your bolts after i had fished it down the hole the treads were burred and the nut wouldn't go on all the way so i had to fish it back out what a pain that was but got it done and replaced with one of the other bolts that you supplied me with and it went on great. now i have a ? about the hitch height mine only sits up at about 11 inches and change will that work with your snowplows that say they need 13 inches or will i have to do something different? but thanks for the great turn around time in getting it here quick.
This thing has been just fine. It's been a great mount for my winch. Only problem is I've been too lazy to put my bumper back on.. :)
This hitch mounted up in less then 10 minutes. I love it and it looks great.
Well made and easy to install. All of the necessary parts were included and the video on the product page made it a breeze to install. Working on my driveway with no lift. I am 73 and used a floor jack to lift it and hold it in place until the first two bolts were in place.

The hitch seems to be excellent. I have not yet been able to install it because the bolts, etc supplied with the hitch are useless because there is no way to insert them through the frame rails due to the slot id too small to accept the bolts. I am tempted to use the factory bolts, but I am fearful of allowing the factory nut assembly to slide away from the holes making them inaccessible.
I think the better application would be to supply and use stud bolts which would allow installation without risk of inaccessible nuts inside the frame rails. This is what I intend to do when I can purchase the studs
this item bent down to a point that the receiver part is barely off the ground. i contacted you guys and you told me that this was because of the plow itself and was not built strong enough to hold plow up during plowing. very disappointed with this since you sold me both items. cannot plow with it like that. i sent you pictures but you seemed not interested.

Please keep in mind this hitch is designed for only 500 lbs of vertical load. Most plows weigh close to 300 lbs without the weight of the snow.
This is a great quality hitch that was easy to mount. Probably would help to have a buddy help hold it in place while mounting, but it wasnt that hard by myself. I finished in less than 1/2 hour and It didnt require any modifications to my 04 F-150 s-crew Lariot 4x4. Its nice to have the option to push a trailer from the front if its ever necessary, but that wasnt my motive for purchasing. I bought it to hold a bike rack and possibly a small motorcycle when towing our travel trailer. Works great, but if you have something extended out low in front of your truck, like a cargo rack, or tires from those 3 bikes, always remember they are there and drive accordingly. Even approaching a steep driveway can be a potential issue depending on your rack design and specific situation. Clearance should not be an issue for average light duty users. I purchased the Front Mount Trailer Hitch because of the tricky parking of my trailer. It has performed flawlessly - if you call saving our marriage while using it to park the trailer by the side of the house. Haven't had to call a divorce lawyer yet!
The hitch was a snap to install using the clever install 'wire' to place the bolts in the exact position. I'm getting old and don't get up and down to easily but installing this hitch was done before I broke a sweat.

Well I got time today (6/22/2013) to put this front hitch on to my 2008 F-150. The installation was simple. The only trouble was the Bumper. I Had to take it off but that really wasn’t That bad. The only thing is that the Hitch hangs too low. It is the lowest thing on my truck now. I would like it if it was welded to the top of the cross member instead of under the cross member then I would have needed to cut a hole in my bumper but that would be OK with me. This is a nicely made product and good welds. It will work just fine just wish it was not so low.
It's was extremely easy to install I did it myself in about 15 minutes . And it looks great
I like to tackle these kind of DIY projects but often find myself in over my head. Fortunately I have a couple of friends who bail me out without too much grief. This trailer mount arrived before I expected -nice- and I figured it would be a couple evenings work. One to remove the current fasteners and tow hooks and the second to reinstall w the mount. To my great surprise I had everything done in about two hours. It went together exactly as the video showed and there were no, none, zilch issues. The heads of the fasteners on my truck were 15mm and reusing them was easy. And I did not have to trim the plastic under my bumper!

Fit the truck perfectly. Shipped quickly and in strong packaging. All the necessary parts were included. The video on the website was awesome and made the install so much easier. I ordered a separate hitch for my car from another company since it was a few dollars cheaper and I am still waiting for it.
I will be (and would recommend) sticking with etrailer in the future.

Where is it made?
This product is perfect. Took longer to get my tools out then it did to bolt the hitch to my 2008 F-150. Everything fit first time, without modification. Didn't even need to get out my big hammers! The glossy paint job looks really nice too.
I ordered the hitch and it arrived the next day! Spooky. Almost supernatural like customer service. If the shipping had been any faster it would have arrived before I ordered it! Their web site is massive. Any outfit that puts that much time and money into a web site is serious about doing it right. etrailer.com is definitely a keeper.
Worked perfect for my application, I use it to mount a motorcycle rack on the front of the truck so I can also pull my travel trailer!

Still working out great!
I began searching for a front mount trailer hitch receiver and went to a couple of RV supply stores to inquire. The cheapest store was Camping World which I am a Good Sam Member. Their Member price was $199.00 + $16.92 Tax plus Shipping charge between $49 To $69. Worst case would have been $284.92 and I would have to pick it up at their Store. I went online and found the exact same receiver at etrailer.com For $159.00 total price. No Tax and free shipping to my door. It was delivered 4 days later. Easy installation & great service! I did want to let you know that this front mount hitch is designed to use a fishwire technique where you route a wire through other holes in the vehicle frame, and attach the correct hardware, then pull the wire back through to place the hardware in the correct location for installation. We do have a an installation video on a similar vehicle for your reference, I have provided a link to this video and the installation instructions for your reference.
