Expert Answers about Tarps

  • Are the Erickson Heavy-Duty Silver Tarp Waterproof
  • The Erickson Heavy-Duty Tarps like part # EM57021 will work well to keep an area dry. They are not completely waterproof but still do a great job of helping protect what's underneath like most other tarps. I like these tarps as they have more tie-downs than most others so you can can secure them every few feet which will help keep more water out as there will be less openings.

  • Replacing The Front Clamp On The Extang Trifold Cover
  • I reached out to Extang directly regarding your inquiry on the Replacement Cab Clamp # EX1034. They advise to release the clamps, remove the tarp from the rails so that the frame loses enough tension to be pulled apart. Included is the tarp replacement guide that explains how this process is done. You will skip steps 1 & 2. You DO NOT need to cut the tarp. Once the tarp is removed, you should have enough slack in the frame to allow these bows (crossbars) to be pulled from the siderails.

  • Solution for Preventing Water from Pooling on Flex Air Pin Box
  • I wish we had a custom fit cover for your Flex Air pin box but we do not have anything like that. If there was a way to attach like magnets to a really small tarp that would probably be the easiest and most convenient DIY solution. If the tarp has eyelets you could run string or rope through ring magnets to attach them to them maybe.

  • Can Classic Accessories Snowmobile Cover Be Used on the Highway
  • The Classic Accessories Snowmobile Cover - Large by SledGear # 052963715378 does a great job for storage applications but it wasn't designed to handle the high winds you'll face on a highway so I definitely don't recommend using it in that fashion. For your application I recommend using more of a traditional covering like the 10' x 14' Erickson Heavy-Duty Silver Tarp # EM57022. This is designed to help protect cargo in trailers so it can take a beating from the wind on the highway as well...

  • Does The BAK Revolver X2 Tonneau Cover Sit Below The Bed Rails When Rolled Up?
  • I spoke with BAK, and they said when the BAK Revolver X2 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK39122 is rolled up, the only thing that will sit below the bed rails is the mounting rails, which will sit 1-1/2" to 2" below the bed rails and will run the entire length of the truck bed. The actual tonneau cover will sit above the bed rails when rolled up, so you will not have any issue with that interfering with your slip tank.

  • Installation and Operation of Rhino Rack Batwing Awning and Maximum Height
  • The maximum height of 7ft that was referred to in the question you saw about the Rhino Rack Batwing # RR33100 just refers the length of the telescoping legs. Inevitably some vehicles are taller than this and when you take into consideration the size of the crossbars and side rails, the Batwing can be mounted higher than 7ft off the ground, but it will have a slight downward tilt-which might be helpful in keeping moisture from pooling on it anyways. You're not required to mount it 7ft high...

  • Can Solera Slide Topper LCV000165061 be Installed on Camper With Awning
  • Thank you for the photo, and I reached out to Lippert for you who told me even with an awning already on your slide-out, it was possible to mount a slide topper, which for your 12'5" (149") flange-to-flange measurement is the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000165061. Keep in mind you will need at least 7 inches of clearance on either side, and I can't quite tell from your photo if there would be interference on one side, but if so you would need the next size down, the Solera RV Slide-Out...
