  • Installing Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit Part # 521227-3 on a 2001 Volkswagen Golf
  • What it seems to me, is that your current point of installing the base plates are not lined up properly per your description. It's best to have the base plates # 521227-3 parallel before any drilling for your tow bar to attach correctly. I contacted our representative at Roadmaster and they haven't experienced any mounting issues on these base plates for a 2001 Volkswagen Golf. He did mention as long as the base plates are 1/2-inch or less apart on one side, in comparison to the other side,...

  • How to Use the Stabilizing Strap of a Curt Hitch on Non-Towing Applications
  • I noticed that you purchased the Curt Hitch # C11412 and you are correct that Curt recommends using a stabilizing strap on non-towing applications. The part recommened is Curt's Trailer Hitch Suppport Strap part # 18050. One end of the strap connects to your bike rack while on most model vehicles the other end attaches at the top edge of your trunk. The strap has a cam buckle that is used to tighten the strap. I have attached link to a video that shows an example on how to install this strap.

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendations for a 2015 Volkswagen GTI
  • You can use Curt trailer wiring harness # C59236 on your 2015 Volkswagen GTI. Additional wiring for the power wire on the converter is included but you will need a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the vehicle wiring to make the proper connections.

  • How Much Does Rear Bumper Fascia Need to Be Notched to Install Hitch on 2019 Volkswagen Golf R
  • To install the EcoHitch # 306-X7333 or # 306-X7332 on a 2019 VW Golf R, a notch measuring 3 x 3-1/4 inches would need to be made in the underside of the bumper fascia. For both hitches, the notch isn't noticeable from the rear, only if you're looking up at the underside of the bumper. If I had to personally choose between the two, I'd go with the EcoHitch # 306-X7332 with the 2 inch receiver because the 2 inch receiver size is more common, so there will be more hitch mounted accessories...

  • Will a 2018 Volkswagen GTI Make Contact with the Ramps on Tow Dolly RM-2050-1 While Driving
  • The bump or dip in the road would have to be fairly severe for the ramps on tow dolly # RM-2050-1 to make contact with the bottom of your 2018 Volkswagen Golf. The ramps are not all that long and the dolly and vehicle will move up and down with the travel of the tow dolly suspension. If there is any contact it is unlikely that it would be forceful enough to damage anything on the vehicle. I understand though; it's a new vehicle and you want to be sure! I recommend taking a look at the...

  • Adding a 6-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf Turbo Diesel
  • In order to install a 6-Way trailer connector on your 2004 VW Golf, you will need to start with adding 4-Way trailer wiring harness, # 119178KIT. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. After the 4-Way is installed, you can add the 4- and 6-way installation kit # ETBC6. The 4-Way previously installed plugs into the adapter and the remaining 3 wires will need to be hardwired to the vehicle. The white wire grounds to the vehicle frame. The remaining 2 wires...

  • Is Stabilizer Strap Required When Carrying Bike Rack with Curt Hitch
  • Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. There are quite a few people who ignore this requirement but it will void the warranty of the hitch so we can't safely endorse this.

  • The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24825 which is a fit for a 2011 Volkswagen Golf will require two different torque specifications which are listed below. Please note, these specifications can change over time so be sure to reference the latest copy of the installation manual prior to installation. Tighten all 1/2-13 GR 5 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M) Tighten all M12X1.50 CL 10.9 fasteners with torque wrench to 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N*M) If you need...

  • Fairing for a Rhino Rack Vortex Roof Rack on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf VII 5-Door Wagon
  • For installation, the Rhino Rack ROC25, part # RR23QR, is not intended to line up with the factory roof rack holes during install. It will install exactly as you have it right now in your picture. I can't recommend opening the moon roof while having a roof rack installed, as there is a chance that the rack will contact the glass as it opens or the noise and wind will change direction because of the crossbar and affect the passengers or cargo in the vehicle. Generally, we don't recommend...

  • Can the Fairing be Installed with the Logo Facing In or Can the Logo be Removed on an Inno Fairing?
  • Yes, the graphic on the Inno Fairing # INA261 is just a sticker and can be removed. You may want to use a goo gone type product to clear up any residue left on the fairing after removal. You will not be able to mount the fairing with the logo facing in because the feet with the rubber pads are already pre-installed.

  • 2019 Golf R Sensors Location During Hitch Installation
  • I don't see any mention of sensors on any of the instructions for the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7332. Is it possible they can be added on to the 1/2" hardware installed further toward the middle now like in the picture included? You want to use the hardware the hitch came with or you risk voiding your warranty on it and compromising the capacity of the hitch itself. You also have the option of making your own bracket that would fit behind one of the provided fasteners...

  • Is Trimming Required for the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch on a Volkswagen Golf GTI
  • In regards to the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7375 which is a fit for GTI models of the 2018 - 2019 Volkswagen Golf, there is no cutting or trimming of the bumper fascia required for installation. However, on the particular vehicle that we installed this hitch on we did run into a very minor issue with the receiver tube catching on a piece of the trim panel which was fixed by taking a utility knife and shaving away a very small amount of material from the panel but...

  • Can the Rear 12 Volt Socket on a 2018 Volkswagen Golf be Used to Power a Trailer Light Harness
  • I really wish that I could tell you that the 12 volt power source you have in the rear compartment of your 2018 Volkswagen Golf is suitable for the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56405 but it is not. The keyed circuit is not the issue but rather the power draw of the harness. This harness requires a 15 amp fuse and as you mentioned the power source in your rear compartment is only 10 amps. Therefore, it is very likely that with multiple signals active like the running lights...

  • Will Tekonsha ZCI Wiring Harness Fit 2016 Volkswagen Golf R
  • The Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT will work to provide a 4-Way flat trailer connector on your 2016 Volkswagen Golf R. This wiring harness will allow you to install trailer wiring without needing to splice a connector into your vehicle's factory wiring system. The powered converter needs to be run to the vehicle's positive battery post. I cannot recommend that you connect the power wire to a 12V accessory wire somewhere further back on the vehicle. With...

  • Is Fascia Trimming Required for Trailer Hitch Install on a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R
  • Yes, all of the trailer hitches for your 2019 Volkswagen Golf R require some fascia trimming for the installation. Out of the available options I recommend going with the EcoHitch # 306-X7332 because it is he only option for you to use a 2" receiver. The larger receiver means you have the opportunity to carry a wider variety of accessories than you would if you had a 1-1/4" receiver. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out.

  • Is Trimming Required to Install Hitch on 2018 Volkswagen Golf R
  • There is some fascia trimming required to install Curt hitch # C11564 on your 2018 Volkswagen Golf R. Take a look at the diagram included in the installation instructions that I attached. It's right from the install details and shows how much trimming is needed. There needs to be a 2-1/2 inch by 3-1/2 inch notch cut for the receiver tube to drop down from behind the bumper. The diagram is showing the fascia under the bumper as if you're underneath the car looking up. Notice the exhaust...

  • Weight Capacity of Thule Passage 2 Trunk Bike Rack TH910XT
  • The frame cradles of the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT have a weight capacity of 35 lbs per bike. So the capacity of two bikes with this carrier is 70 lbs and for just one bike 35 lbs. The only bike racks that are going to have the weight capacity for a 60 lb bike will be a hitch mounted bike rack like the Swagman E-Spec part # S94FR which has a 60 lb per bike capacity.

  • Installation of Draw-Tite Front Mount Receiver 65063 on Dodge Ram
  • It's not necessary to remove any portion of the front bumper fascia to install the Draw-Tite front mounted receiver # 65063 on a 2010-2015 Ram 2500 or 3500, as you can see in the video I've linked for you. The installation procedure involves removing the factory tow hooks, slipping the hitch through the slot in the bumper and replacing the factory tow hooks to their original position so the hitch is sandwiched between the tow hook and the truck's bumper structure.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2016 Volkswagen Golf R
  • I do have an option for you but the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT is not recommended for use on your 2016 Volkswagen Golf R. Instead, you will want to use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56374 which is actually a plug and play option that will not require you to cut or splice any wires like the original harness you inquired about does. With that being said, in order to hardwire a harness into your vehicle you would need to use a circuit...
