If you have a vehicle specific wiring harness for a brake controller then that would indicate that you have a factory tow package and subsequently would already have a 7-way at the back of your vehicle.
The universal 7-way connector # ETBC7 is meant to be used on vehicle's that don't have an existing 7-way and need to add one.
However if you were adding a 7-way then you'd need to route the blue wire to the output on your brake controller, and run the yellow wire to the reverse light circuit.

We've actually seen this before with the Curt Echo # C51180 and Audi factory trailer plugs before, and the downward angle on your 7 way bracket will not affect the operation of the controller. You won't need to reposition the plug and the Echo will work in this orientation, so there's nothing to worry about there. Great news this is easy to determine! When installing the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT the arrows should be pointed to the light. So in this case the arrows should be pointing upwards on the harness because that is where the light signals are traveling up to the lights.
