Choosing a Ball Mount with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Audi Q5
Question:
I am trying to pick the right ball mount to keep my trailer as level as possible. Hence, I need to know what is the height of the hitch opening from the ground. Whether the top of it, or bottom, or center... please specify. Car in question: 2015 Q5 on 235/60x18 wheels.

When we installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75940 on both a 2016 and a 2017 Audi Q5 we found the ground clearance (from ground to inside top of the receiver) was 15". Even though we haven't had a chance to install this trailer hitch on a 2015 model the measurement should be really close to that if not the exact same.
With this in mind, all you have to do to choose the correct ball mount is park and level your trailer on level ground and then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the couple is taller than 15" then you need a ball mount with a rise but if it is shorter than 15" then you need a ball mount with a drop. We like the ball mount kit # 989900 because it gives you 3/4" rise, 2-3/4" rise, 2" drop, and 4" drop options as well as both a 1-7/8" and a 2" hitch ball. This kit should fit most applications.
Please note that you also need wiring to complete your towing setup. For your '15 Q5 we have the Tekonsha ZCI # 119250KIT which uses connectors that just clamp around your OEM wiring.
I have attached some installation videos for you to check out as well.
