I was able to locate the owners manual for your 2008 Toyota Tacoma. According to the owners manual your Tacoma can not be flat towed. According to the manual, if you have an automatic transmission you will need all 4 wheels off of the ground, so you will need a trailer for your vehicle. The answer to your question is going to depend on how far from the bumper the spare tire extends rearward. When installed to your bumper, the first bike slot will sit 4-3/4 inches rearward of the most rearward point of the bumper. If you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern on your hub with 8 inch wheels, you will be able to use the 10 inch wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern on that hub. The center hole diameter on the 8 inch wheels and the 10 inch wheels are the same 2.8 inch hub pilot diameter.
