I spoke with my contact at Curt about trailer hitch # 13091. The hitch is designed to fit a 1992 to 2000 Mitsubishi Montero 2 or 4 door (but not Sport models), so if it is being installed on one of those specific vehicles, it cannot be used upside down.

Not really but it depends on your skill level. The hardest part of installing the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C87WR is going to be loosening the rubber pieces that attach the mufflers to the hangers. Other than that you'll just need a socket set to bolt the hitch on. The hitch weighs 29 lbs so you'll want to have someone help you hold it up while you install the bolts.

However, Curt tells me that when the # C12048 is installed, the top of the receiver will be within 1/2 an inch of the bottom of the fascia under the bumper (see photo). There are actually two different size bolts used to install the Curt # 13581 on your 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander. The Bolt that will line up with the tow hook will be a standard 1/2-13 thread, but the other 6 bolts will be M10 x 1.25.
