Hey Tom, so you have a couple options but most likely what you need is a 4-way to 5-way adapter like part # 20036 which will give your Ford Edge a fully functional 5-way for your boat trailer.
So the reason your boat trailer most likely has a 5-way is because it has a reverse lockout solenoid that the 5th pin of the 5-way activates to allow you to back up the trailer without locking up the brakes. Hey there Mark; that's certainly an understandable concern, and I can tell you the hands-free liftgate on your 2020 Ford Edge Titanium will indeed still work after you install the Curt hitch:
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C78KR
You'll just have to kick your foot to the side of the receiver for the liftgate to work, but it will retain its functionality.

Joe, your 2017 Ford Edge SEL can be flat towed and I'm going to get you setup with everything you'll need. The first thing you're going to need is a base plate - which is essentially the anchor point for your vehicle and the motorhome.
Personally, I'd go with anything Roadmaster that uses direct connection like # RM-524454-5. These guys have been pretty consistent in putting out a good product and they've been around a while so they've got the kinks worked out.
