Expert Answers about Ford Wheel Locks

  • How To Lock Steering Wheel of Vehicle that is Towed on Tow Dolly
  • Hey Dave great question. So some people will use the seat belt to lock the steering wheel. To do this wrap the seat belt around the steering wheel a few times and then buckle it and then pull the seat belt all the way out so that it's ratcheting and let it go and it will be locked to the steering wheel and hold it straight. You can pull on the steering wheel side of the seat belt to take out as much slack as possible so that it won't slip. To undo this you would just unbuckle the seat belt.

  • Troubleshooting Bulldog Secure Wheel Clamp Not Working
  • Hi Sam; based on what you're describing I believe you have a Bulldog Secure wheel clamp. This is not a brand that we carry, and is not the same Bulldog that makes the # BD580404 you were looking at. For troubleshooting I would contact that company directly. We do carry wheel locks like the # 288-02020 if you want a replacement. I went ahead and attached a link to all of our wheel locks below for your reference.

  • Will the Trimax Heavy Duty Adjustable Wheel Lock Stop an Angle Grinder?
  • Oh it won't stand up well to an angle grinder at all. The Trimax Heavy Duty Adjustable Wheel Lock item # TMX42ZR is designed to stop the casual thief with bolt cutters. Not a dedicated criminal with power tools. I am sorry but I do not have another option for you. We do not carry that heavy duty of a wheel lock.

  • Wheel Lock Solution for Trailer that Was Stolen that Had Demco Coupler
  • That is a super frustrating story. There isn't really a great way to lock the Demco coupler part # DM14040-81 to a trailer but a better option might be a wheel lock like the part # 288-02020 which would at as a theft deterrant. Somebody must have really planned out the theft of that trailer though as they had tools to remove the coupler and seemingly had the same coupler or drug it off by the safety chains.

  • Is There a Way To Get The Reese 5TH Wheel Locking Latch # 30416?
  • Reese no longer manufacturers their part 30416. As this is a part specific to the Reese 5th wheel hitches there is not another option for replacing this. So you would either need to have one custom made by a steel shop in your area or look at a new hitch like the B&W Patriot Fixed # BWRVK3255 or Slider # BWRVK3270. I prefer B&W as they seem to not change over their 5th wheel hitches like Reese and B&W carries more replacement parts for their 5th wheels than most other companies.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Assemblies Where One Wheel Locks Up Before Other
  • Hey Charlie, typically this problem is related to the adjustment of the brake assemblies being different. Most likely one assembly has a tighter adjustment and is locking up before the other. I'd jack the trailer up so the wheels are off the ground and turn the wheels by hand. You should feel a light drag of the brakes on both wheels. If one has more resistance than the other that would be why. To see how to manually adjust trailer brake assemblies check out the video I attached, fast-forward...

  • Lock Recommendation for Shadow Gooseneck Trailer that Doesn't have Coupler Lip
  • For gooseneck trailers like yours where the coupler is not a standard that we have a lock for the best option is going to be a wheel lock like the etrailer part # 288-02020, Barb. This will for sure fit as a lock and would be just as effective so it would be the route I would recommend.

  • Can I Use Demco Hijacker With Reese Side Winder Pin Box
  • If your Demco Hijacker is a fixed fifth wheel hitch you can certainly use it with the Sidewinder with the custom wedge for Hijacker fifth wheel hitches part # SWW-05. If your Demco Hijacker is a slider hitch like part # DM8550034 then you will need to lock out the side winder. Since the Reese Side winder moves the pivot point of the towing setup back 22" you cannot have a pivot point at the pin box and the slider hitch without causing damage. If you look under the rotating turret there...

  • Options For Curt Slider 5th Wheel Hitch With Locking Handle Below The Top Of Hitch Head
  • Hey Joel, There is no replacement handle for your Curt Q25 # C16566 that does not stick up above the hitch, they all use the same handle, and it's the only one that fits. You'll need to not use a tonneau cover with the hitch installed, or switch to a hitch like the Curt # C35DR which uses a handle that doesn't stick up above the head.

  • Should The Jaws Of A Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch Stay Latched Open When Uncoupling
  • Hi William, The jaws of the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075 should lock open when you pull the handle out. In the video I've attached below you can see Jeff lock the jaws open around the 3 minute mark. If your handle is no longer latching open then you'd likely be looking at replacing the head of the hitch with # RP30047A. Typically you can't get replacement parts for 5th wheel hitch heads because the manufacturers don't want the liability of consumers adjusting...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Carrying E-Bikes on Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel
