You aren't alone. A lot of vehicle manufacturers are erring on the side of caution and putting dislcaimers on using tire chains. Basically, this keeps them from being responsible if any damage is caused by the chains. It doesn't mean using chains will definitely damage the vehicle. I have a solution for you, but you will not be able to use the base plates from your 2012 Chevy Colorado on your 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk; base plates are designed to be vehicle specific, so they won't be able to be transferred between vehicles. I went ahead and checked out the owner's manual for your 2018 Jeep Renegade, and you are actually not going to be able to flat tow this vehicle per the manufacturer.
Instead, it is recommended to use a car trailer that will lift all 4 wheels off the ground.
