Great question, and the short answer is yes, you need to keep from exceeding that 150 lb tongue weight rating. Since all 4-bike racks are going to be heavier than 22 lbs I recommend either using a 2-bike hitch carrier and looking for another way to carry your other 2 bikes, or swapping out your hitch for something with a larger capacity that is better equipped to handle the weight of all 4 bikes and a bike rack.

I did some research on your 2010 Toyota RAV4 and found that the maximum towing capacity is 1,500 lbs, which makes the tongue weight about 150 lbs max. When considering the tongue weight you need to add the weight of the carrier along with the weight of any cargo on the carrier. The Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Carrier, part # S64665 weighs 59 lbs, so that would give you about 90 lbs for bikes.

I spoke to my contact at Yakima and he informed me that when the tongue of the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 is collapsed and store in the upright position it would be 74-1/2 inches tall.
Removing the coupler would not be an ideal solution for storing the trailer as it would also require removing the wiring for the trailer.

From my research your 2018 Toyota RAV4 can carry up to 101.9 pounds on the factory roof rack. That may be oddly specific but it's what Toyota states as the maximum. So you need to make sure the roof box you choose and everything in it doesn't exceed 101.9 pounds.

Those are good questions. I will answer your last question first. You are correct, the limiting factor is the weight your crossbar and car combination are rated to carry. If something has a higher weight limit than the 165lb weight capacity the rack is rated to carry the rack's weight limit will still be the limiting factor.
