What I recommend installing is the Optronics LED Trailer Tail Light # STL78RB on either side of your cargo carrier. Then for your connector use the Wesbar Wishbone Wiring Harness # 002402 with the Hopkins Adapter # 47345 so it is compatible with the 7-Way on your 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML550. The wiring configuration for the Wesbar wishbone is as follows:
White - ground wire
Yellow - left turn/brake light
Green - right turn/brake light
Brown - tail lights
For extra wiring use the Bonded 4... view full answer...
You generally want to have your tongue weight towards the middle of the prescribed weight range of your weight distribution hitch and your trailer tongue weight should generally be between 10% and 15% of the GVWR of the loaded trailer. For that reason, and because the Blue Ox # BXW0753 is designed for underslung couplers, it's not the best solution.
Instead, I recommend using the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 6,000 lbs GTW, 550 lbs TW # BXW0550, which... view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13018 uses M14 x 5.50 grade 8 bolts. There are replacement hardware kits available for the Curt # 13018 by putting that part number into the field marked "Hitch Item Number" on the page for the # RHK.
I've also linked the instructions for this hitch that list the specs of the bolts and the washers. view full answer...
We can help you with options for carrying your four bikes on your 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350.
However, the reason you could find no 4-bike trunk racks is that very few such carriers exist; we offer none and the reason why is that a 4-bike trunk-mount rack would simply place too much weight on that rear hatch (or on the trunk of a sedan) and would put some parts of a car at risk. The 3-bike Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top # HRF2-3 will properly fit your vehicle but it leaves you with 1 bike... view full answer...
I recommend the Curt trailer hitch receiver, part # C13117, for your 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350. It doesn't require any drilling but there is trimming necessary. But it's not the body fascia that's trimmed it's the heat shield and the DEF tank shield, if you have one. You also remove the bumper fascia brackets and they aren't reinsalled after the hitch is in place but they aren't visible either.
I've linked the insall details on this page for you to take a look at if you'd like. view full answer...
Hello, in order to add a LED backup light to your trailer, you could use a setup like the LED Trailer Back Up Light, # BUL52CB, with Rubber Grommet, # a70gb, and Mounting Bracket, # BK70BB.
You will also need a 7-Pole Trailer Connector like the # PK12706 to be able to connect to the 7-way on your 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML550 and additional wire like # 16-1-1, which is sold by the foot, to connect the new backup light.
First you will need to cut the 4 pin flat connector off of the trailer... view full answer...
Yes, we have the trailer wiring components needed to install a 4-Way trailer wiring harness on your 2003 Mercedes ML350. You will need the 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit, item # C59496. This kit includes all of the parts needed to install the wiring on your vehicle along with a circuit tester to find the correct circuits to splice to. The wiring for your vehicle requires that a power wire be ran to the positive post of the battery through an inline fuse to protect the vehicles sensitive... view full answer...
For your 2009 Mercedes Benz ML the adapter I recommend is the 7-Way to 5-Way and 4-Way Trailer Adapter, part # C35FR. This adapter is designed for vehicles with LED lights.
This will allow you to be able to power the lights on your trailer without having to replace the 7-way connector on your vehicle. In the future if you need to tow a trailer with a 7-way connector, you can simply remove this adapter and you are ready to go. view full answer...
To make the LED trailer tail lights work with the factory trailer wiring on your 2011 Mercedes ML550 you will need a Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass # 20142. This will plug into your 7-way on your ML550 and allow the trailer to plug into it. The adapter tricks the computer in your Mercedes to believe that the trailer does have normal incandescent bulbs so that you do not get the bulb out error on your dash.
If you are hauling a smaller trailer the 7-Way to 4-Way/5-Way... view full answer...
The stabilization strap that is mentioned on the product page for hitch # 13018 and in the instructions, see link, is # 18050. The strap is designed to reduce some of the stress on the hitch for items like bike racks and cargo carriers when used. view full answer...
If you plan to tow a 7-way equipped trailer that has LED lights (using a vehicle that has incandescent lights) you can use Curt Trailer Adapter # C57003. This item is designed to avoid issues with the bulb-out sensors triggering on many German vehicles including cars from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. view full answer...
An adapter like the 7-Way to 7-Way LED Trailer Light Adapter, # C57003, contains load resistors which simulate increased power draw so the vehicle thinks there are incandescent lights on the trailer.
Just plug this adapter into the back of your Mercedes, plug the trailer into the new 7-way, and you should be good to go. Your vehicle should now recognize the trailer. view full answer...
The Recommended 4-Way connection for the 2008 Mercedes-Benz M320 CDI is the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit w/ 4-Pole Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # C59496. This ModuLite harness offers peace of mind by including circuit protection to safeguard itself and the tow vehicle from harmful electrical shorts and mis-wire situations.
If you are looking to add a 7- Way connection and brake controller, I recommend # ETBC7 and the # 90195. view full answer...
I do not believe Mercedes-Benz does selectable 4-Wheel Drive like a pick-up truck or off-road vehicle does, but I am not sure. 4-Wheel drive systems allow you to turn off the drive power to the front wheels when not needed. This is done by a switch or knob on the dash, or a shifter on the floor along the transmission tunnel. If it does have a selectable 4-Wheel Drive, then no, you would not have to have chains on the front.
Most luxury imports, Mercedes, BMW and Lexus for example, use... view full answer...
A good starting point for your project to add electric drum brakes to your trailer is a review of the linked article which covers this process in detail. You will need to select brakes based on the weight rating of the axle on your trailer, which should be indicated on a sticker or plate, and you'll need to select new hub/drum assemblies that use the same bearings as the hubs currently on your trailer. This will ensure compatibility of the new hub/drum assemblies with your spindles. If... view full answer...
We offer several 2-inch Class III hitches for your 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML350 that can be seen on the link provided. All have the same capacities and will install pretty much identically. Each includes the required mounting hardware and each one will require a little drilling. I recommend the Curt # 13342 since it is the lowest cost option. Instructions are linked along with a helpful article on hitch installations.
