If the vehicle must be towed on the drive wheels, do not tow the vehicle more than 500 cumulative miles (800 km) or exceed 50 mph (80 km/h). If these limitations must be exceeded, then the drive wheels have to be supported on a dolly.

For a similar trailer hitch you will want to go with the Draw-Tite part # 36407. This is a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver opening. It is rated for 3,500 lbs Gross Towing Weight (GTW) and 300 lbs Tongue Weight (TW). You will want to check your owner's manual for any special instructions or weight restrictions as well.

A hitch adapter can allow a 2-inch accessory item like your Thule rack to be used in a 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch like Draw-Tite # 36538. But the downside to using any adapter is that it will cause you to lose 50-percent of your hitch's capacity. This is due to the change in the geometry of the system when an adapter is added.
