The extra pin on your boat trailer's connector is most likely a reverse lock-out for your surge or hydraulic trailer coupler. The extra circuit is tied into the reverse light circuit of your vehicle. It sounds like you are trying to go from a 5-pin flat connector on your 2017 Toyota Highlander to a 7-way connector on your Ranger boat trailer. This type of connector is not made since the 7-way wan only designed to be used on trailer that require either a charge line or electric actuated trailer brakes.
