So another thing you might try is putting the vehicle in neutral like you mentioned and then with the engine off pressing the start engine button with your foot off of the brake. I would start by checking your ground wire on the motorhome and on the vehicle side of the Roadmaster # RM-15267, since that's the root of a lot of issues we see and should at least resolve the issue with the license plate light, but there's a lot going on here. I will also say that the diodes are not wire specific, meaning they can be used on any wire.
