More than likely the dimly lit display you're seeing is from the voltage taking a while to dissipate. It doesn't take much power for the LED display to show up. Give it a few hours and check again to see if it is still lit. Even if it is, the power draw isn't enough to drain your battery.

The Curt Echo # C51180 does require a 30 amp fuse, so that will definitely fix that issue. This is used fairly often and this does happen, but I cannot say if this will be bad for the vehicle or not.
