The issue you are experiencing with your trailer brakes could be attributed to either a fault in the brake controller wiring or a fault in the electric over hydraulic actuator wiring. I recommend starting with the brake controller wiring. In order to test this you will need to use a multimeter like part # PT89ZR. I checked the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Ram 3500 and the only thing that it stated in regards to trailer wiring is that it is already run. Because of this and the picture you sent in it looks like someone may have modified the wiring on your Ram. I can give you some pointers on how to install a 7-Way but unfortunately I don't know what color wire is for what function in your picture.

On the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # BWRVK3600, the moving components of the locking jaws need to be lubed but the pin does not need lube. These jaws are the only part of the hitch that requires grease for maintenance other than the puck locks where the mechanism needs to turn.
