Removing the Head and Legs from Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch C16545-16021
Question:
Im looking at the Curt # 16545 Q-24 and Curt # 16021 Ram OEM Legs. My truck is a 2015 Ram 3500HD Dually long bed. I saw your You Tube video on the install of the legs which seems straight forward. The only question I have is ? The video doesnt show how to remove the head unit from its mount to gain access to mount the Ram OEM legs. How does this come apart and does it take 2 people to do it ?

The legs on Curt 5th wheel trailer hitch # C16545-16021 are bolted onto the center section of the hitch with 2 bolts per leg. While 1 person could remove and reinstall legs on the hitch having an extra set of hands is recommended because of the weight of the hitch components.
The head is held to the center section with pins to the left and right and below the hitch head. Remove the pins and clips and then the caps the pins go through. This will allow you to pull the head off of the center section and make it easier to remove the legs from the center section. I have included some links and a picture that should also help.
