For starters, the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System part # RM-9400 is compatible with your 2017 Jeep Wrangler but you will need an additional item to ensure proper operation. This item is the 12 Volt Outlet Kit part # RM-9332 which ensures that you have 12 volt power to the cigarette lighter while the vehicle is in tow mode.
In regards to installation, we don't have a video on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. However, the premises is pretty much the same for every vehicle... view full answer...
We currently (February of 2019) don't have an installation video of the Curt Echo # C51180 on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler but the installation will be the exact same as the other vehicles that we have videos on. This is because the Echo installs in the vehicle-side 7-Way and just requires the basic trailer lighting and 12V power to work.
Since you currently have a 4-Way on your Wrangler you simply need to install the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L and you can use the Echo! This plugs into the... view full answer...
When installing a trailer wiring harness such as # 118409 on your 2005 Jeep Wrangler the connection on the passenger's side of the vehicle is a little harder to get to. Instead of reach in from underneath to find it like on the driver's side, try reaching in from the side of the vehicle up near the bumper. I have included a link to a different video, installation is the same, but it is a little clearer than the video on the 2005. view full answer...
The main reason that the battery must be disconnected when flat towing is to prevent the battery from draining. When flat towing your 2015 Chevy Colorado, the key must be left in the (II) position. This would leave some of the electrical components on and drain the battery.
To eliminate the hassle of having to disconnect your battery each time you want to flat tow, I recommend installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, part # RM-766. The automatic battery disconnect is activated... view full answer...
Tekonsha doesn't list an estimated installation time for their trailer wiring harnesses like they do with their trailer hitches, but after looking through the install instructions and viewing the linked installation video, I'd estimate that the install should take a professional about an hour, and a fairly capable do-it-yourselfer about an hour and a half.
I'll also link to a help article that addresses how to run the wire from the rear of the vehicle up to the battery. view full answer...
Yes, the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End, item # HM40975, will answer all of your needs, and woes, if installed correctly. You will need some wiring to go along with this connector to get the 7-way functioning properly and the 4-way will need to be severed and rewired into a connector that mates to the back of the Pollack connector.
The harness needed to use the # HM40975 trailer connector is the 4 foot Pigtail Wiring Harness for Pollak Replacement... view full answer...
The rack comprised of the Thule WingBars # TH711400 and Evo raised rail feet # TH710401 attach to the existing roll bars once the hard or soft top is removed. The feet clamp to the Jeep's roll bars.
If your Wrangler has a hard top that has rain gutters running along the edge of the roof, another option is the Thule 60 inch SquareBars, # TH712500 combined with the # TH65BJ Rapid Gutter Feet. The feet attach to the rain gutters. If your hard top does NOT have rain gutters, Thule offers brackets,... view full answer...
The ideal location for the controller box of the InvisiBrake, # RM-8700, is under the drivers or passengers seat. However, it can be mounted anywhere in the interior of the vehicle; under the rear seats, in the trunk, or behind panels.
I have included a link to the instructions to the right. Based on those you should be able to determine that best mounting location for you. I have also linked a couple of installation videos for you. view full answer...
It appears that the OEM MOPAR part draws its ground connection through the connection with the factory wiring harness feeding the taillight assembly. Rather than depending on getting the ground connection through the factory harness, the Tow Ready harness simply does the same thing by grounding directly to the vehicle chassis.
Either the OE or the Tow Ready harness would work just fine for you, both will provide the same function. Price-wise, from what I say online, the Mopar harness costs... view full answer...
Based on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13408 you must have a Jeep Wrangler TJ between 1997 and 2006. This hitch is rated for a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs, and the installation details I've included also require the stabilization strap # 18050 for any non-trailer application like a cargo carrier in order not to void your hitch warranty. Under their warranty you would need this strap even for a 35 lb bike rack.
If you don't want to use a stabilization... view full answer...
Yes. You cannot use the Roadmaster # RM-521453-5 base plates with an aftermarket bumper. If you've already got an aftermarket bumper that has D rings you can use the # RM-035-1 (for 1" D rings) or # RM-035 (for 3/4" D-rings). Both of these adapters are compatible with Roadmaster tow bars, but you will need a Roadmaster tow bar that mounts in the receiver on your motorhome like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520.
If you're thinking about adding an aftermarket bumper to your existing setup,... view full answer...
Your 2017 JK Wrangler won't have the connector at the rear for the # 42145 unless it was equipped with the factory tow package. No worries, though. We can make this happen with a minimum of hassle, though it's not quite plug-and-play.
You'll first need to access the taillight circuits of the Wrangler using a T-Connector like # 118416. To convert that over to a 7-way, you'll need our 7-way upgrade kit for wireless brake controllers, part # ETBC7L. The kit includes an adapter to convert... view full answer...
If the base plate Item # RM-521453-4 did not come with thread locker then we recommend using red loctite Item # LT37420. The instructions will tell you what thread locker to use. I have found the if it is not in the kit it will be red. As far as the torque specs, I am an installer and we go by the manufacturers recommendations on the instruction sheet. The specific bolts you are speaking about do not have torque specifications listed. It is advised by Roadmaster to tighten the bolts down... view full answer...
If you want to run the lights at the front of your toad you will need to install a diode at each running power wire going into the light bulb socket.
You would need extra diodes, # 48955, and you would need to splice in extra wiring, # DW02360-1.
Wiring the front running lights will be similar the wiring the rear running lights, see attached photo. You will

I do have another option, however the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - Car Mount - 2" Ball # RM-501 that you mentioned is not going to be compatible with your Smittybilt bumper with a winch.
Instead, you're going to need to use a different tow bar, like the:
-Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount # RM-520, with the d-ring adapters like # RM-035-1.
You will need to also verify that your bumper is flat towable as well. You can do this by contacting Smittybilt and provide them your... view full answer...
In order to install the Brake Buddy Classic 3 on your 2009 Jeep Wrangler with existing wiring for the Brake Buddy II, you are going to have to change out the wiring as it has changed between the different models.
To do this, you're just going to need the Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39494, which will come with the braking system as well as the new wiring needed for your Wrangler.
Attached is a installation video of the Brake Buddy Classic 3 on a 2009... view full answer...
Typically the 6-pole socket holder is screwed into the crosstube of the baseplate # e98948 but with this specific one the plastic bumper really covers a large area and wouldn't look great, so most of the installers will typically cut out a small portion of the grill for the socket to pass through and zip-tie it in place. This allows it to be pretty much hidden and is easy in terms of installation.
That being said you can pretty much screw it to anything you want to, but will want to keep... view full answer...
I do have another option for you but the Surco spare tire bike rack, part # BT300, does not fit oversized tires. Take a look at the Hollywood Racks SR2, part # HRSR2, instead. It'll fit up to 12-1/2 wide tires so it's pretty likely to fit your Jeep tires. The catch is it's only a 2-bike carrier. We don't have any 3-bike carriers that fit oversized tires.
I've posted a video of the SR2 on a 2016 Wrangler so you can see how it looks. view full answer...
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118416 is a fit for a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. If you would like to use this to wire in a some type of third brake light then you can do so just note that the stop and turn signals are combined on the same wire so you'd need to separate them with part # PP20-702 or else the light would flash with the turn signals.
In regards to the reverse light circuit, this is not present on most trailer wiring harnesses so you'd... view full answer...
