It seems like it wouldn't be a terrible idea to go with a higher rated leaf spring on your trailer. To pick that out that I would need to know the length of your current spring unless you were willing to move hangers which your mechanic might be open to. I really wish there was a way to determine what bearings a trailer needed without actually pulling the wheel off and checking, but there isn't. The only two solution I have for you would be to remove the hubs and get the numbers that are stamped on the bearing or for you to remove the hubs and use a digital or dial caliper to measure where the bearings and seal ride (see pic).
