  • Potential Fixes for Stuck Thule Lock
  • I do have idea as this is a somewhat common problem with new Thule keys. What we have been told by Thule is that there can be a teeny bit of extra metal on new keys and if you wiggle the key around a bit, running it in and out of a lock core like # THLOCKN014 that is often the remedy. Otherwise you can also try spraying some lubricant into the lock and also wiggling the key around to help release the tumblers.

  • Does Westin Automotive List Part Number on their Grille Guards
  • Westin does not mark their grille guards with part numbers, although other manufacturers might. I do know that with the Westin product, not only are the bracket kits vehicle specific but usually the guards themselves are as well. That's why I typically caution folks not to buy used grille guards without knowing absolutely for sure what vehicle they came off of.

  • Trailer For Mobility Scooter Hauled by 2011 Toyota Camry
  • You are correct that your 2011 Toyota Camry will have a hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver such as the Class II Draw-Tite # 36416, as that is the only size hitch made for this car. Since you are looking to pull a small trailer with this car you will need wiring, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118482, to power your trailer lights. This hitch also requires Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitch # 36071 and 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256. The reason you want that size hitch ball is because the best option we...

  • Will Inflating ST235/80R16 to Maximum PSI Cause Tire to Overheat
  • That is a good question but inflating a ST235/80R16 trailer tire such as the Westlake # LHWL401 will not cause it to overheat. Trailer tire manufacturers have tested the psi and rated it to so that inflating it to the max psi takes into account the build-up of heat, and these are also radial tires, which flex more and run cooler than bias tires, which is another reason for their rated psi. You want to inflate these tires to the maximum cold psi to give you the best performance, allowing...

  • How to Best Discourage Theft of Bikes
  • You're right. Any lock can be defeated by a thief with the time and sometimes the tools to do so. Locks are primarily included on items like bike racks to act as deterrents. In other words, to an extent they "work" sometimes just by encouraging the thief to take another bike that will be easier to steal than yours. Bolt cutters, hack saws and other tools can make short work of stealing a bike or a bike rack or both. There is, sadly, no such thing as "theft-proof". The best way to decrease...

  • Does a Weight Distribution System Decrease Tongue Weight
  • No, a weight distribution system will not decrease the tongue weight capacity of a vehicle or trailer hitch. It will in some cases actually increase both the tongue weight capacity and gross trailer weight capacity of the vehicle/hitch. If this is the case then there will be a figure for this new rating either on the hitch itself or in the vehicle's owner's manual. The best weight distribution system we offer in my opinion is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. The reason I consider...

  • Why Does Ground Wire Corrode on Aluminum Trailer
  • Thank you for the photo and what is causing the ground wire is the aluminum trailer; it's called galvanic corrosion and is an unfortunate side effect of having an aluminum trailer. This happening once every 18 months or so sounds about right and the truth is there simply is no fix for this. You'll have to just use a wire brush and remove the white powder - the corrosion - and then re-attach the ground. I know it's an inconvenience but it is the only thing you can do in this case.

  • How to Get Rid of Bad Smell From Water Heater
  • The smell could be coming from your water heater's anode rod, which is sometimes the cause of the rotten egg smell you are unfortunately experiencing (which is actually hydrogen sulfide). I took a look online at some tips to get rid of the smell and it says to flush the water heater with hydrogen peroxide or household vinegar. Additionally, once per year you will want to use a flushing wand such as # A01-0184VP and flush your tank with fresh water.

  • Is Fulton Single Axle Trailer Fender with Top and Side Steps # F008583 Right- or Left-Handed
  • The Fulton Single Axle Trailer Fender with Top and Side Steps # F008583 that you referenced is not made specifically for one side of a trailer or the other. Since this is a general-purpose replacement fender it can be installed on either side of a trailer in a manner that the user will determine to be safe and effective. Please see the linked video. I also included a link to our main page for trailer fenders where you can use the filters in the left-hand margin to narrow the results to...

  • Changing Out 4.80-4.00-8 Tire Size on Boat Trailer With Larger Tire Size
  • You can go larger in tire in some instances, but it's going to depend on how much larger you want to go. You don't want to see any less than 3 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the underside of the fender. A 4.80/4.00-8 tire is usually about 16 inches in diameter when fully inflated. A 5.70-8 tire would be about 18 inches in diameter, which would provide about another 1 inch of trailer deck height. This is the largest tire we offer that will fit on an 8 inch rim. If...

  • Can Rust on Hitches, Ball Mounts and Hitch Balls Like Tow Ready # 63803 be Prevented
  • Rust is not covered by the warranty on Tow Ready # 63803. However, there are some steps you can take to slow the process of rust forming. Hitches, ball mounts and hitch balls will always be exposed to abrasive road grit/sand, corrosive salts in cold climates and general dings from road debris, no matter what you do. On a powder-coated steel hitch, for example, you can do your best to keep the hitch clean (to remove salts) and to touch up with anti-corrosive paint any spots that might have...

  • Locating Reverse Light Circuit on 2003 Dodge Ram
  • In my research, I saw several mentions that Dodge liked to use a purple wire for the reverse lamp circuit. However, I wouldn't recommend taking this as gospel. The best practice is to wire by function, not by color. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation of wire color codes. The # 20135 you referred to plugs into the tow package wiring. The wire in the harness behind the 20135 that connects to the center pin of the 7-way connector will carry the reverse light circuit, so you can...
